In the announcement, Todd McFarlane threw a little jab at Hasbro by specifically calling out Star Wars and Marvel. So, we here at Fanatic Now felt obligated to hold a very scientific experiment, and decide once and for all.,, Which IS the BETTER action figure? One thing that immediately comes to mind just a minute into this video: I see DC Multiverse figures in actual stores. I'm talking about Walmart and Target, but also my local comic shops. Major retailers have their DC sections well stocked, and the local comic stores I visit have their walls lined with them. On the other hand, whenever I visit a Walmart or Target the Hasbro sections, particularly Marvel Legends, Star Wars Vintage Collection, and Star Wars Black Series, are almost entirely vacant. Sometimes there are just one or two peg warmers, and the stores rarely put out new stock. It's not because they're selling so fast that they can't keep the shelves stocked, it's as if Hasbro just isn't sending them anything. When I asked my local sonic shop owner why he doesn't carry any Marvel Legends, he said the profit margin is so slim on anything Hasbro that small shops don't really bother with them. Hasbro has a serious distribution problem. I'm not saying that this alone accounts for DC being on top, but I think it's certainly a contributing factor.

This is perfectly true but gold label editions are super hard to find especially when they just include a light up feature. Idk if the mcfarlane being in stock means they keep putting new stock on shelves after being bought or that they don’t sell. I think it’s a mix but leaning towards the second choice.

Sure but Mcfarlane also has examples of even greedier tendencies. To get an alternate hand for The Batman movie figure you needed to buy a whole new item (his bag cycle) and it came with a single fist hand. Much worse quality control, accessories 80% nonexistent, and while they makes new sculpts it’s a 50/50 chance that the proportions will be ridiculous. Great job guys - I truly love this concept. I'm wondering if you two would be interested in making this idea into a regular thing? What I mean would be for the two of you to each get a DC wave and a Marvel one and combine your thoughts in a video. Forgive my ignorance on the matter, but until I saw Killer Croc and Man-Bat, I felt feeling assured I made the right decision to go with Marvel for my limited space (it was a tight race). Great video! I really appreciate both how you did the comparison, giving each other equal time, as well as that you were both honest about your preferred line's flaws. I do wish y'all pointed out that the new DC Multiverse figs don't being 7" means they don't scale with other DC lines (like Icons as well as the Mattel Multiverse figures). That also affects diversity, since you can't mix an older version of a figure in with your 40 new Batmen.

Whether DC gave him the license and said “Yeah, we know you only make 7” figs” or whether Todd himself said “Hey…we only make 7” figs” doesn’t really matter at this point. After dipping my toe in this new DC Multiverse line, I view it the same way I view Diamond Select: a must buy for the larger characters, a reluctant pass for the regular humans.

Great video guys. Sincere and funny as always. I am a D list fan so I want to see Doom Patrol, Metal Men, Legionnaires, Freedom Fighters and Constantine not Bat after Bat after Bat. I get it he sells, but Marvel Legends makes Wolverines, Deadpools, Spideys and Iron Men like mad; but we also get Arcade, Psycho Man, Darkstar, Frog Man, Nico Minoru and so on in the same wave - then there's the BAFs - I mean Ursa Major? Sasquatch? Kingpin, Mister Hyde, AoA Colossus, some of them are simply incredible and deep cuts too. So I'd have to give it to Marvel Legends on that factor alone. It should be noted however, I do have several McFarlane DC figures on my other shelves too. When it's good, it's good and I lay my money down.

I have to agree, I buy Legends, because I have always been more of a fan of Marvel comics, and they are making a lot of stuff from my era. However, McFarlane figure do have a certain grandeur that Marvel are failing at. plus the price point is becoming very clear. Hasbro have the skill to do the more impressive sculpts, just look at some of the G.I. Joe classified offerings, but with the last offerings including Vipers for £30 per figure, i think Hasbro will start to lose buyer. as you said in your video, Hasbro need to wake up as companies such as McFarlane and Valaverse have caught up with them.

In scale I was hoping yall would touch on how they scale amongst their own lines. For the most part, with some exceptions, legends all are in scale with each other, shorter people aren't the same height as taller people. Mcfarlane often tend to make their figures all over the board with scale like Batgirl being as tall as batman, or flash being taller than batman. Look at the Snyder cut figures for example, why the hell is 6'4" batfleck shorter than 5'9" flash. Lol.

I'm a kid in a candy store because I really like both. And use Marvel Select for my DC Crossover displays. That said this year I will be buying very few marvel legends when compared to the past and with the recent releases from Mcfarlane it looks like I'll be spending that difference on DC. I love my Marvel figs don't get me wrong. But at the current price it has to be ECEPTIONAL and even harder if it's a BAF. Todd's Mega Figs are killing it for me and the price for what you get is fantastic. Hasbro this past year has played on it's collectors with it's distribution tactics and frustrated many with that behavior. I'm speaking for myself with my wallet and so far.. I'm leaning towards Mcfarlane Toys and the many cool lines that weren't even mentioned here like the Warhammer 40k or MK11 line.

As of now, im more interested in Marvel legends because of what they are doing now lately, some are a hit and a miss but mostly a hit for me. Hasbro couldn’t do a Megafig at the Mcfarlane price point if their life depended on it. Not to mention, hasbro almost never goes on sale, and even if they do, they’re usually peg warmers. Why is Lando still at full price after all these years. And Mcfarlane seems to pay attention to the fans a bit more. Just look at the main arguments towards Diamond Select and McFarlane Toys... "they don't scale with my pre-existing collection" so no it isn't wrong. Long before DC MULTIVERSE, DC already had its toy lines with DC DIRECT and DC UNIVERSE CLASSICS. DC DIRECT WAS SUPERIOR TO MATTEL. However, its constant brand changes, such as the quality of the figures (especially the joints) caused it to fall apart. In the case of Mattel, Todd Mcfarlane has been in charge in just 2 years that everything made by Mattel has become garbage. They have their details, but it is a line that will grow over time and become the DC COMICS brand (taking up the past DC DIRECT lines, and announcing new products of that brand). In the case of Marvel Legends, IT WAS AN ICON, but we must be honest, the high prices that must be paid for constant reuse of bodies and repainting have made them lose value. And that line has been overvalued, for being the favorite toys of KZread critics, has made that series fall apart every year.

I prefer 7 inch scale because they fit with my Marvel selects and neca figures and I prefer the mcfarlane articulation because of the double ball joint in the torso, and the newer mcfarlane figures joints hide well and are moving better. @@yoy5903 Exactly. If that didn't raise eyebrows, I don't know what will. The Haslab was one thing, but with the Apocalypse figs we get a direct comparison of the same character from two different companies; one for regular retail and the other pretty much a more premium brand in quality. So it baffles me that the lower end figure is $10 more than the more detailed figure. And there's no justification that the usual Legends fanboys can fall back on, because I'm positive the articulation will not be drastically different between the two.

The only reason he outsold his competitors, is because he makes variants of the exact same figure with a different head sculpts and/or different hands. His proportions and his articulation are absolutely trash and let's not talk about his issues with the scale of his figures. He should never have gotten the DC line.

Respectfuly I disagree. I think the total opposite. McFarlane is a mad genius and I think that in time he will restart the line with all new six inch scale figures with new sculpts and Build A Figures to revamp the line. Plus, he is proving that quality figures can be made and sold for twenty dollars. With inflation continuing to sky rocket, McFarlane may be the only company left still selling toys.

Bias review. Yes, Todd was leaning towards sculpt and details rather than articulation, but he's kinda new to articulated figures, and yes face sculpt might be a problem, but I think it's a very minor setback. 2022 is still early, I can't wait for Mcfarlane upcoming figures.

Dc multiverse figures could be great if it weren't for the stupid scale and needless repacks. They're genuinely cool figures with (sometimes) great articulation but you always get shorted with the articulation. With marvel legends you kind of always know what you get, because of the almost endless reuse of bucks. (Seriously, stop using the buckycap buck its a waste of our money when they have better and more articulated ones they could use.) Edit: to elaborate more on articulation, people need to shut up about the ball hinges at the hands and feet. When Mafex and S.H. figuarts use the same joints no one cares but when McFarlane does it people act like it looks abysmal. McFarlane figures have 2 ball joints at the upper and lower chest. Often times it needs to be modified, but once it is? The articulation will be incredible.

Agreed. Thoroughly like the ball joints in the chest, its the thick covering that makes it difficult for motion there, which feels like it may be an easy fix later on in production.

Hey. Today I just went to a toy store here, in my country, Chile, and i have in my hands booth kind of figures. But, i choose marvel one. Price, sculpt and variety sold the figure. DC comics have awesome characters but they are all the same batman or superman and they cant put side to side with another dc comics because they have no same scale. Marvel do. I grew up with superpower's series and i liked em so much. Nevertheless, toybiz marvel legends came first here and i got mad with em.

in 2020 multiverse was better, 4 years later, hasbro has been pushing for better quality, sculpts and more accesories, they still release stinkers every now and then, but they also release brand new sculpts frequently. Multiverse to me feels like they peaked two years ago and haven't done much in terms of innovation, they keep releasing uninteresting characters while missing essential ones and then they release bizarre repaints of those same uninteresting characters. Also something that legends have that multiverse lacks is playability, posing a legends is satisfying, they feel durable and the reusability of molds, means that collectors are familiar with the parts so kitbashing, swapping is a thing and the figures can take the abuse. Multiverse feel more like posable statues, they don't feel as durable, like they feel sturdy and all, but after a few poses, joints start becoming loose, parts squeak, so it's not a satisfying experience and customization is not as accessible.

Me personally marvel legends is a W for me since for me is all about articulation. If mcfarlane made Spider-Man figures probably they would suck due to they’re lack of articulation. Obviously there paint might be better than legends but if I have a Spider-Man action figure and can’t pose it in it’s iconic poses than that’s an L for me
