A single release with different paint apps and his sword would be an instant buy

I hope we do see him as a single release as I don't care for any of the other characters.

They might cast him in that silver plastic we got with the Haslab silver surfer and release it on a retro card. 🤷🏽‍♀️ perhaps with the sword again? I would like to see it with a cable clone head. Thanks for putting this together!

Stryfe is 90´s peak design

That head sculpt is superb. I always liked the aesthetic of Stryfe, bonkers and over the top, but that's supervillains for you. A retro card release with some decent power effects as well as the hand options would be cool. Given the new arms and legs and head it's a shame he doesn't have the dumb bell joint at the base of the skull and neck, but as Anthony said head movement would be hindered by that over the top helmet.

I almost forgot about the hyperion *chest shelf* and how much the armor overlay helps. I'd be happy to see a repaint single card.

I want him and Random be release as singles, and Retro Card is one of the ways since Toybiz did it and Hasbro might give a throwback tribute on the old toybiz x-men figures

Yes. I would buy a blue one in a standalone release. I'm not a fan of these figures packed together. I usually only want one figure in the pack.

Nice review. Very informative, and I like the comparisons. I have the original Stryfe and I have no interest any of the other figures in the set, so I'm good. Aside from the color scheme there is really very little that separates the two figures. I actually have always liked the dark gray on the original, plus they painted the spaces in his gloves and the panels on his lower tunic. So it's definitely not worth it to me to pick up the entire 5-pack just for the slightly improved Stryfe.

I really want him in a standalone release. I love strife, missed the first one and was so let down when I initially saw they were making him and immediately found out it was in a set... Especially being a 5 pack of a bunch of random d list characters I really don't care to collect/spend so much for..

Pretty boy is really slick looking tho.

I am waiting on my 5 pack, however this makes me look forward to it a little more. I am not expecting much from Zero and Vertigo as they are clearly plain body repaints, but fill the space, not much else to do for those figures. For the Stryfe, it looks good, I will replace the cape with a material one and be more than happy. As for a single release, yes, totally agree. I am not precious, there is no promise that this is the only place to pick it up, so give everyone a shot at it. At £120 its not a cheap buy.

QOTW: I'm not much of a Legends collector, but Stryfe was the first X-Men (well, technically X-Force) figure I ever got back in the original 90s Toy Biz line so I do have a lot of affection for this character. If Hasbro released it as a single card with a lovely, lustrous, paint app I'd probably cave. Stryfe is the type of character that when he walks out into the sunlight to get fetch his mail or whatever other people can't even look his way because his suit is so shiny. They should either go super shiny or just copy what NECA has been doing for their robot type figures. Will they do that? Probably not. And if they were to use that much paint they'd probably try to sell everyone some sad story about the costs being crazy and now he needs to be $45 to justify it at which point I'd say "No thanks."

What sucks for me is I just want Styfe.. so for me it’s paying $200 for a single figure which sucks.

I grew up reading the X-Factor comics over the X-Men comics. The X-ecutoner Song story featured Strife. I missed out on getting him the first time. If I this goes on sale I may get it.

Nice video 👍 I would have preferred if the blue and silver parts were inverted and the figure was mostly blue 🤔 Still gonna get it and add a custom soft goods cape 😁

After 1 year, I finally got the 5 pack on Amazon for $75. He’s a great figure but I wish he had a holding hand like the old Stryfe.

I have both of these Stryfe’s now so I’m personally good on an individual release of him, plus Hasbro would screw it up unless they just did a silver paint job on the whole thing and didn’t mold anything silver with that crappy swirled plastic.

I would love a true chrome version of him like the old ToyBiz Silver Surfer. Was that paint super toxic? I never see it anymore. Or maybe the mass-produced lines I collect just don’t use expensive paint.

This is my biggest hobby related headache this year. I really just want stryfe. I’m debating skipping and hoping for a single release.

Sucks they didn't include his sword from the original release in a pack that is already lacking in accessories. Definitely down for that single release,but I do need that pretty boy.

Marvel Legends. Please step up to the plate and make soft good for capes instead of plastic. It's the difference between a figure looking great or a cheap toddler toy.

90s excesses…. Hahaha…. I’m surprised he doesn’t have pouches. The new head is definitely better in almost every way. But the seam or molding lines are very apparent on the fins. I don’t know how they did the mold, but it would be nice if it was front and back rather than top and bottom to hide the seam line.

Appreciated the review! Personally I was pretty underwhelmed with what they delivered with this whole set but Stryfe stands out as being extra underwhelming as he was clearly the major selling point of the 5 pack and he's virtually the same figure that we got like 10 years ago. Since I have the OG Stryfe and zero effort went into the Stryfe, Vertigo & Zero figures in this set I see zero reasons to spend 100$ on essentially a solid Random figure & a Reaver. Easy pass.

I'd like to see a Marauders X-men villain pack. The Mutant Massacre saga was awesome

I don't have special connections to get marvel legends early. I order from bbts like anyone else. Hasbro just ships in batches.

The seams on that helmet are rough. How hard is that plastic, would you be able to sand it and paint over it?

You probably could with very fine sandpaper but it's just pvc.

The only one I wanted out of that pack. Stand alone would be great.

Single release would be nice. Not interested in the other four but I'd buy Stryfe.

as an X-man fan, I dont have problems with this 5 pack, but I get its not for everyone..Stryfe was a very hard figure to find, in fact that wave was.. I remember driving to 4 TRU w/in an hour radius for several weekends to find this dude, nothing..so the fact its here, get it.

Thanks for the review AC, I appreciated your effort on this one. A single carded Stryfe makes sense. That is why Hasbro will not do it. At least for a couple of years. This is the ONLY reason to purchase this waste of money. Hasbro's greed to raise profits by 50% include sticking fodder like Zero and Vertigo (let's not forget Pretty Boy) with wanted products like Stryfe. It seems to be their game post Renew-Your-Vows 2-pack; include a wished-for with a toss-away.

Better question of the day: would you rather buy them separately and get a BAF with it? The price of the 5 pack is the same as the price of the 5 figures individually so if there is no'advantage' of buying the pack (that's the common sense: you make people buy a pack if the pack is cheaper than the individual figures) I rather buy the ones I want or buy everything AND get a BAF. 2022 was the worst year for Hasbro collectors in my opinion. Higher prices, cheaper plastic, a lot less painting, less accessories as well... and now these 5 packs (and the yellow/blue 3 packs) that feels a lot like a rip-off...

Man… Darwin the Merciless!! 😂😂😂 … Will try to get this five pack when/if it gets some discount.

they could've used Omega Red's body, retool it just like what they did to the current Cyclops and it will look better than this outdated Hyperion body. Nonetheless, the figure looks good

If it’s pinless it a new mold. The holes for pins are part of a mold. You can’t change it once it’s made.

Anthony would you please enlighten me? Is that blue paint supposed to be a blue reflex? If it is, shouldn't it have been applied as a reflex to the whole armor like in the comics or at least to the arms, neck and thighs!!! Hasbro is really making fun of the consumer, the price goes up and the quality doesn't follow, some times it even feels like the quality is actually going down. I agree with your overall critics, thanks for the review Anthony.

No, in this version of the character he has blue parts on his suit. If you're talking about the thighs and abdomen that is. If you mean in the artwork, yes, it's meant to be chrome.

I see what version they're going for but I think the full chromed version would have been better for this sculpt, in fact I believe this sculpt is from a different armor version and they're just trying to make do with it by applying new shoulders, new arms and by painting some parts in blue. On the version they're going for the waist armor has side plates that would have covered the side of the thighs and instead of doing that Hasbro painted the front of the thighs leaving the sides unpainted to simulate the side plates of the waist armor.

I love your reviews, Anthony. However I have no idea how Stryfe could be one of your favorite characters. Maybe aesthetic only? I always thought he has a really lame cliche story and his armor would make it impossible to walk, let alone fight.
