Photon Cannon? It _is_ Proton Cannon, that's what Iron Man/War Machine shouts when he unleashes the attack (and it's spelled out "proton" in the MvC player manual, just in case). As for why it's called "Plasma Cannon" in this figure's packaging: That's because the 1994 cartoon action figure for Iron Man comes with an accessory called Plasma Cannon (which is completely unrelated to MvC, it's a red wrist-mounted missile launcher).

Even on the read up on the back at the end it says Proton Cannon. So it isn't photon but it's plasma/proton

Well photon makes much more sense . Since photon is the quanta of energy. Where the energy of the photon is "h" multiplied by the frequency of the wave . And h being the planks constant

I actually feel the size of the head is perfect. Just that their normal suit bodies are undersized. No one has a developed set of shoulders. Then the reality that the helmets for all these characters should be larger because humans have big heads. Tony's head and legs would need to shrink to fit inside any Iron man suit not the Hulkbuster.

The "big" head is like a nano-milimeter bigger. I think it looks perfectly fine

Over here in Saskatoon SK it’s close to $50 for something like the deluxe ironman or vintage collection figures

I spent my childhood in the early 2000s. I really enjoyed playing MVC2 on PS2 and this fig hits so hard to me. I wish they make other more characters inspired from the game.

Love the review, I actually bought this figure as soon as it was available and got it delivered over a week ago and love it. I have the entire original 95 Iron man animated series figure line and could not pass this and the retro War Machine up.

I'd still prefer the Ursa Major BAF Iron Man but I like this one better cause it's a more cartoony look and I love the classic figures for my collection

That is an amazing figure. I love MvC2, and Ironman. I'm in the U.K and the only one I could find on ebay was like £135 from Japan, lol. It's all good though, I picked up the Marvel Legends 20th anniversary Ironman last week, and I love that figure. Got Cap too.

The Tony head looks like the bigger victim of the big head syndrome, but it's Tony Stark we are talking about so maybe it's appropriate? Either way, there's no way that head would fit into that helmet..

I got this ironman and war machine and put em up on my pegboard. Looks good

I remember how much I hated iron man when he used this on me I was so close to beating everyone then I got this spammed on me but they captured this well I think they could of just did a bigger blast effect but I think they could of made a larger beam

For the victory blast effect maybe could be used as a flash infinite mass punch

Great review. I’ve been on the fence with this for a while. I know this figure has been out for quite some time, but I was amazed that I got to pick this up brand new at my local ‘GAME’ store for £14. If you are UK based it’s worth checking if its still on clearance 😄

if you think about it, a larger head sculpt does make a bit of sense since it is a helmet.

I agree on the head size, although considering there's supposed to be a head inside the helmet I can let it slide a little more with Iron Man than some characters

Yeah I think you're right, the cartoon head sculpt does look a tad bit too big

Makes me wonder if we will get a full "Vintage" Force Works or full Mandarin crew from the series. I would totally buy this again if it came in MVC packaging, and I hope they make an MVC inspired wave.

Even tho it's just repaint I really do like this figure. Such a classic comic book/cartoon colours with the proton cannon. The new effects are sic. Head too big? I don't know for me it sits to high on the neck the same with Tony head. The same thing was with 20th tony head too IMO. Too big head is not that visible to me or at least I don't see big difference. I really like this figure. I wouldn't think I would like to get him but now I really do want him. I'm actually on the fence with new retro war machine too because well it's not such a big difference except repulsor blast hands and different paint. Maybe if he could have some new effects he could be cooler but for now the deluxe one is definetly the superior one.

I, Am, Iron Man which is referencing from the 90s FOX cartoon.

I think we’re all just so used to seeing the unrealistic “superhero proportions” with extra wide/large shoulders, so when a head is actually sized appropriately (1/3 shoulder width) it looks off.

60 in the uk is insane. I heard you also need a license to watch tv. Crazy stuff

Is the mullet making his head look too big? I think the face is proportionate. Love this whole package. I spent tons of hours and quarters playing that game.

When I saw this figure at my local collecters store (I live in Costa Rica) an influx of flashbacks whizzed by me back when I used to go ro the arcades and played mvc like a total noob and used to shout "Superior tech" like a retard. I immediatley bought it. That huge fucking cannon that materialezes out of nowhere is just joygasmic.

Interesting fact: Few people realize that the Retro Gambit is actually a MvC version of the character and not the animated series one.

Really wanted this figure as big fan of this 90s design when I bought the comics - am in UK & I resent paying £60+ for this, got the carded War Machine too for £24.99 - so im paying an extra £35+ for a cannon I dont even want! Also doesn't make sense putting a bubble blister card in a box?! Come to that, why even bother being 'environmentally friendly' with your packaging when your main product is completely comprised of plastic anyway? What next - cardboard action figures?!

I never played the game much and I didn't see many episodes of the cartoon so this figure is a pass for me. I had the old toys and they had the shiny vac metal parts on them so the modular armor is my perfect definitive version of Ironman.
