Dustin aka dtcsk well it is a tough question. They thought that Ukrainian people are smart and will support right contestant, but they appeared to be too dumb, because they have selected Maruv. Next time they will not leave it to the public, that’s it.

Translation of her most recent post on insta: "Today, our meeting with the NTU lasted about seven hours, as a result of which, we did not reach an agreement between the two parties. A few hours before the draw, I was asked to participate in the national selection for Eurovision-2019. I agreed and won, and with great pride I was ready to represent my native country - Ukraine in the international song arena. As I said earlier, the refusal of concerts in Russia was not a matter of principle for us. The main differences were caused by other clauses of the agreement, which, if I sign, become enslaving for me. I am a citizen of Ukraine, pay taxes and sincerely love Ukraine. But she is not ready to come up with slogans, turning her stay at the contest into promotions of our politicians. I am a musician, not a beat in the political arena. I sincerely thank and appreciate everyone who believed in me and voted. And I ask you to accept this fact and not to go for confrontation. This is a reality today. I want to give my creativity without censorship. Tomorrow I will wake up with new forces - to win and popularize my music in the world."

Any sane artist wouldn't sign that contract... Ukrain should just internally select a pupet, just like Russia does...

VladiusSsGaming All I hope is that they don’t send freedom Jazz but they send Kazka, the public 2nd favourite! Kazka was my favourite of the whole entire NF and the live elevated the performance so much! Although it must be so difficult to loose a very popular entry, I think Kazka is Ukraine’s next best option! Either that or they should be disqualified. If Ukraine send freedom Jazz they won’t qualify for sure. Kazka came 2nd with the public, they deserve it more!

I'm really sad she withdrew but happy with her decision, that she refuses to agree to the harsh terms on sponsorship and stripped off many basic rights (apparently I heard that the future Russian concerts cancellation wasn't the main issue) All the best to Anna Korsun (Maruv) in the future! For replacement (if Ukraine won't be disqualified that is), I'm hoping KAZKA will go, but with the hate they were getting I'm not sure. They were second televoting favourite though.

I don’t know how much you know about the whole situation, but although she won her national selection, Ukrainian broadcasters/ gov. Weren’t too pleased to send someone who has already thrown concerts in Russia previously (and was planning to throw some more in the near future). So they were ready to make her sign a contract that had crazy demands (cancel all future Russian tours, pay for your own visa and for anyone you want to bring along. If you “improvise” on stage or say something we don’t give you permission for you’ll have to pay tens of thousands of dollars... Although she’s proudly Ukrainian as she is totally allowed to be, she still decided to withdraw because it was too risky/ not worth it for her. :(

what’s bad with this song is her voice, it’s not good at all. i get that she’s dancing and out of breath but so many people do that and still have a great voice. the beat is good and I do love the dancing, but it’s not a song worthy of winning Eurovision, in my opinion. but nevertheless, it’s too bad she’s not participating.

99% of Maruv will not be at Eurovision in Tel Aviv. If you perform with concerts in the aggressor country (Russia), which has already killed 11 thousand Ukrainians, then everything is deserved. Such people have no moral right to represent our country at this international competition.
