He actually would know many languages most likely, but the German language is what was most commonly spoken. So there is a possibility they are the same, but it is still not canon.

@@RDDESIGNOFEHT Technically, it's the other way around. The Holy Roman Empire contained Germany... but France, Italy, Austria, etc. were also apart of the HRE (or at least the land HRE held would come to be known as those countries). By that logic, Italy could be considered HRE.

I've just realized something rather important. I wonder how upset Italy would be this year, seeing as it's the four hundred year anniversary of the departure of Holy Rome. He left to fight the Thirty Years' War in 1618, and since his leaving, Italy hasn't seen him. Of course, he might've grown to cope with his death, seeing as he was alerted of this by France at some point after 1806 (when the Holy Roman Empire was said to has been dissolved) and at some point before 1866 (when Italy gained independence from Austria). So, he's had one hundred and fifty years or so to cope with his "death," but loving someone for seven hundred years and having them leave you would suck. Remembering the last time you saw that person was precisely four hundred years ago would suck even more.

sometimes i wonder why holy rome didnt want to see italy in the story line between 1600s-his death. did he not want to see italy for the last time because he knew he was dying?

The only reason why Germany lost his memory of being Holy Roman Empire is because when Prussia and Austria had a war over who got to take care of him, Prussia won and locked the memory of HRE inside his mind :3

I more think that holy Rome got hit in the head by revolutionary France and was taken hostage by France, after France realized holy rome had amnesia he decided to turn him against his old allies (this being the confederation of the Rhine) however france’s lies never fully set in and after France was defeated Austria and Prussia decided to get him back together, but agreed to make him a new person. Then they started fighting over who rightfully owned him.

Yes HRE is Germany, HRE was made when the Roman Empire was pushed out of Germany then Prussia took care of him till he (Prussia) died and then Germany of course through rivalries and wars is what he is today (history bitches)

Sorry, I just have to say something on this old thread: while there’re many things strongly suggesting that HRE is Germany, the fact that one of HRE’s main language is German isn’t one of them. Many other Germanic countries use German too, one of them being Austria.

In one of the Hetalia episodes, Austria (who thought Italy was a girl) finds out that Italy is, in fact, a boy. After this turn of events, you can hear him say: "Now I get why Holy Rome liked him so much." So I think HRE already knew Italy was a boy. (But I didn't watch all the Hetalia episodes, so please correct me if I'm wrong).

If you read the manga Hima has given very subtle hints on the matter (watch the video by Hetafacts on it that pretty much gives you all the proof) So he probably is ( but there is a chance he may not be )

Because Japanese(or any other language in general) can be translated into different sentences but have the same meaning, like how HRE says for the world and Chibi says the Earth. Both mean the same thing just different expressions

I actually just remembered something when I listen to this, in pre-k, I had this female crush cause I was that gay back then, but I had my hair short and my hair was in a boy hairstyle since my mom thought I looked nicer than with long hair so she cut it. I confessed to her and she said she liked me back and then she left when I was in 1st grade and told me she may see me someday and prob will come back. But years past and I'm in 7th grade now and I still remember her face. She has green eyes and light brown hair. Woah, I’m sorry. I can sort of relate, if that makes you feel any better. I’m in 6th grade and I also have a gay crush who I’ve been close to since kindergarten. She confessed to me first. She moved schools a while back and we haven’t been seeing each other as often as we used to. We still meet up every now and again and we keep in contact over text, but it isn’t really the same.
