I may need to borrow Mads. 😂. My cat is broken. I saw a mouse stealing his food WHILE he was still eating!!! I screamed, the mouse ran away with 2 pieces of meat and my cat stared at me, as though thinking “what’s the problem? There’s enough here for 2”. Another time I saw him PATTING A MOUSE!!! Yes, it was very alive and not hurt at all! 🙄. I would trade him in if I didn’t love him so much 🤣

Well, Mads is pretty good at it. He recently ate a bird that had been dead for half a day. Martin - well, he just doesn’t like it when he has to chew his food. 😆

I had a big black cat who was a fantastic mouse and rat catcher. I had to throw out the entire contents of a linen cupboard thanks to a family of mice. I have since learnt how to safeguard against them. The cat we have now is not interested in mice or birds! Love your beautiful Martin and Mads ❤️🇦🇺❤️ xxx

Thank you for your interesting comment! 😊 I can easily understand why mice can be annoying in some places. Here they are mainly just part of the biodiversity - and quite cute. ♥️ But we do prefer Mads catching mice instead of birds … 😢

In nature, this is what animals do to survive. Cats have been revered for minimising the effects of the Black Plague and various other out-breaks of rats and mice over the centuries, as agriculture took off to feed the populations of the world. Someone else said above that we are spoiling our cats by giving them manufactured food day in, day out and they have lost the taste or need to eat rodents (and spiders, if necessary)

@mikeZL3XD7029 Interesting comment! Thank you! (Still hard for me to watch 🤢) We are all more "domesticated" with our animal foods and preparation nowadays, but you are right...as you described that is how they survived for centuries.

So typical of cats! Mads is actually a good prey-eater. That’s a consolation when you get sad of seeing him with yet another small animal he has caught.

Was that mouse already dead before Martin saw it? Cats need live mice, that is all part of the hunting thing that cats crave before they kill and eat their prey. Mads well, that's just laziness. Marmite will chase mice around the lawn for at least half an hour before eating them, don't really know where he finds them....

This case was special because the mouse was dead, and we placed it there. But it does happen frequently that Mads comes with a mouse he has caught, and he then starts to play with it again before eating it.

It would be better if the cats didn’t catch anything. But they have their instincts … At least Mads eats close to 100% of what he catches.
