Martin and Lewis - The 4 Stepp Brothers 3rd time on M&L
Ойын-сауық
From Febuary 13th, 1955 - The third appearance of the Four Stepp Brothers finds them dancing with Dean and Jerry yet again. I like this one the best, especially since I can't stop wondering whether or not Dean's fall at the end was a joke or for real. A pratfall I would've expected from Jerry, but somehow this unexpected one was hilarious!

And that ladies and gentlemen is what talent looked like back in the day. RIP all six.

It’s timeless. Nobody will ever ever be what they were.
Funny how Jerry can always get a laugh without even speaking.
Some forms of art just take on a life of their own I think, this whole bunch are immortals as this lives on beyond their dances on earth, RIP to all of 'em, and thank you.
there is no one on the box over the last sixty years as good as these
This is essentially American folk dancing. This is the culture we created and is purely ours. Along with Jazz, the Blues,Rock n Roll, and Hip Hop. We should be celebrating moments like these in our divided times. This is just a small example of us at our best. God bless America and these men.

Actually that's not true we borrowed this culture from the European Jews and Irish we just improved upon it because without the influence of the Jewish communities in the Irish communities we wouldn't have blues tab r&b and so much other black culture not to say that we didn't do a good job of making it our own it's just that it's not original to us
Wow, I have never seen the 4 Step brothers perform before. What talent! And Dean and Jerry are hilarious. Will treasure this video!
The natural athleticism of each of these dancers is purely breath-taking. They made it look so easy. Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE IT ALL
This was tremendous! Everyone enjoyed themselves and the added humor and energy of Dean and Jerry was a special touch to the athletic and talented foursome!!!! Just love the clapping and stomping instead of instruments. Cool in every way.....Wish people today would perform like this!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never seen these Four Brothers, they are great. But I also want to honor the orchestra, masters of their own.

That orchestra! Dean and Jerry have said many times, they couldn't do anything without them. They were marvelous!
Man, this is INCREDIBLE! Dean and Jerry can hoof it with the very best of them, and still pull out some original moves! With Jerry adding the gag factor into it as well. Absolutely STUNNING!

Well said! Jerry Lewis was a fantastic dancer and was able to add that physical stroke of genius to it. Not even Chaplin had that to that degree. Stan Laurel had a bit of that too, but far from Jerry Lewis almost unlimited comic imagination and control of his body in motion. But not all people get it. Some just sees it as Lewis goofing around.

I don’t know about the very best of them I think they’d look pretty mediocre next to like bill Robinson, the Nicholas brothers, Gregory Hines people of that caliber

You're too easily impressed -- Dean and Jerry are nothings in terms of good tap or other dances. As mentioned below, check out Bill Robinson, the Nicholas Brothers and Gregory Hines, then you'll see the real thing taken to its absolute unsurpassed height.

STARS AND LEGENDS
It's a miracle the Step Brothers never hurt themselves while on live t.v.!! They were great!! That 'fall' Dean Martin took was part of the show. You could tell just from the way he 'slid' into it.

Actually Maceo trained a few more dancers after the Little Steps. Before he died, he worked with his daughter Cindy in Las Vegas with a group she formed that didn't last. I know, because I was in that group. It was a thrill to learn from Maceo. He never used counts, but skatted the rhythm.

People had real talent back then. Its drastically lacking today.
Rapaz! E eu jurava que muitos desses passes foram criados na década de 2000...e não...eles são mais velhos do que meu avô..esses dançarinos atuais copiaram tudo...tudo...quem se salva? FROM BRAZIL🤔
If you read Mr. Lewis' book, "Dean & Me" - he explains that both him and Mr. Martin both learned the art of the pratfall and that in order to "sell it" it had to look like a genuine fall - and that as a result Dean ended up with a type of hernia, and Jerry (after their breakup) chipped his spine. He did say to my dad (he lived next to the Lewis' when they still lived in the Louis B Mayer house in BH) that his partner was the better "pratfaller", but he didn't do it as often because of his greater size and weight than that of Jerry....fun facts to know and tell.

Q época tan bello,q grandes artistas q x hoy no se ven con esa calidad, estilo, arte q fueron muy sensacional
Pure class.
wow. love and laught to tears
A talented bunch in every way.
Don't worry about Dean's and Jerry's pratfalls during this sequence. Both were masters of the pratfall when they were this young, almost in the tradition of Buster Keaton. Dean was so good at it, that when he did his "drunk" persona when he was a member of the Rat Pack, he regularly included a pratfall during their Vegas act, doing them night after night. And he never ceased to get laughs the way he did it. Of course, he got right up (or was helped up) and was always as "good as new," which is why it was so funny--even today if you enjoy physical comedy as I do. Jerry was seriously injured during one fall, much later in life, but that wasn't from a pratfall, but a genuine slip.

It was a joke; Jerry did his trademark lay-out fall (which caused him no end of health issues later), and Dean did his slip-and-slide in 'response'. Dean does look a little tuckered out; putting on an hour live show is exhausting!

Hello There He really could - @4.05 you can see him channeling his Uncle Leonard Barr, a well-known ‘eccentric dancer’ of the time. He often featured on Deans shows over the years, both with Jerry and later on his Variety Show in the sixties. I imagine that Leonard probably taught Dean some of his moves when he was growing up in Steubenville as a boy because he often mimicked him on spots like this.
Now that is Entertainment!
Ídolos de otros tiempos, cuanto me hubiera gustado aprender más de la cultura que apenas veo.
