I was waiting for a detailed review of this 00028-E Modern deluxe with the new aura pickup and you really did justice to this fine guitar. I find the price pretty high with this new pickup but it sounds beautiful, better with it plugged in. Peghead Nation with Teja, is where I'll look for reviews next time again. Great job!

You mentioned the bridge is backed with a base of some kind on the inside. I never thought about it before, but how is the bridge attached to the outside of the sound wood? Are there some kind of through mechanical fasteners attached to the backer or is the bridge simply adhered to the outside with glue? If the later, what is the purpose of the backer on the inside?

Are you referring to the carbon fiber bridgeplate (5:52)? Usually, acoustic guitars have a trapezoid-shaped flat piece of wood called the bridgeplate that goes opposite the bridge on the inside of the guitar. The balls of the strings seat wedged between the bridge pins and the bridgeplate. On most guitars the bridgeplate is made of the same wood as the top (i think), so usually spruce of some sort. In this guitar, they made the plate out of carbon fiber. Because of the direct contact between the bridgeplate and the balls of the strings, luthiers believe that it is an important factor in the sound conduction within a guitar and therefore tone. Carbon fiber is a lightweight, strong, yet flexible material, so I'm guessing Martin's reasoning is that this material should transmit clearer tone. To be honest, it's probably a negligible difference, or at least you'd probably only tell a difference if you played a "normal" 000-28 side by side with it. Also keep in mind that some guitars are made entirely of carbon-fiber (e.g. Rainsong guitars), which have a very particular "metallic" tone, so just because a material seems ideal on paper doesn't mean it'll sound better. Best to play one in a store!

My 000-28 MD LH was ordered in November of 2019 they ordered a right hand and had to reorder a lefty. I'm still waiting. The Aura was not available then as soon as I get mine I will order the Aura as well.

This or om28?

Can this be plugged into an amp?
