And Carroll lost the room because of it. It was the beginning of the end of any chance at building a dynasty. It was in his hands and made the dumbest call of all time. Had enough time for three plays with 2 time outs and 35 seconds. Even if he wanted to throw, post back of the endzone for the very reason of protecting the ball. Slant into the middle of a goal line defense is beyond stupid.

You act as if he's allowed to do that, or any QB really is. The Seahawks were supposed to lose that game, and supposed to throw that interception. That's why both teams were practicing that play all week, and the footage exists to prove it. You may as well say Bret Hart should've seen the sweet chin music coming and ducked during WM12 against Shawn Michaels.

The worst part isn't the pass call, it's that Lynch was open. Edit: also it was kinda a no call PI but Seahawks are used to that in superbowls lol

Hearing Lynch talk about the Superbowl like that joking around and everything was just great. It's honestly the only thing I've ever seen about that game or play that didn't make me feel super depressed. Lynch has clearly thought alot about and seems to have come to terms with it about as good as any person I've seen. Props to you beast more. tell it how it is

They wanted to give Russ the MVP. Pretty simple explanation. Lynch was the best RB of that year and possibly talent wise in the NFL overall. They didn’t want to pay him too much in the future so they basically stole his MVP award and attempted to give it to Russ, which failed.

I remember that it worked and I remember the 85 Bears as SB Champions. I hate having to explain the strength, simplicity, and safety of running the ball in at the goal over the uncertainty of the ball in the air where everyone is collectively in the same place on the field.

What gets me is that in that situation if you hand him the ball and he doesn't get in, he's the type of dude who can carry that. He'd have no problem shouldering that loss. But now, it's just a what if that you can't shake. I think that's harder to carry. Sure, the situation may have called for that play, but man... Julius Melzer no he’s saying that certain games and events like the super bowl are rigged. When you have owners who make billions and so much money on the line on a major televised thing, it will be rigged. NFL and the Seahawks didn’t want Marshawn to be the MVP of that Super Bowl or the face of that franchise. Simple as that

It's the classic case of if it works, it's brilliant...but it didn't. If the NFL was rigged, shit would have came out a long time ago. I knew he was a beast when he was in Buffalo. And when he ran over the Saints D in Seattle's quake zone run......now I'm all in for Beast Mode. But when asked right after the game about why he didn't get the ball, his answer was epic...."Because it's a team game."

The guy's name who voiced those old NFL films was John Facenda; "The Voice of God". Marshawn was exactly right, those old films were better listening than the actual game. John died around 1983 and the follow on NFL films were never the same.

Pete Caroll and the NFL wanted to make Russell Wilson the hero of the Super Bowl instead of giving the glory of Marshawn Lynch. Whether he would've made the run if the ball was handed to him we'll never know but I'm sure people, especially Seahawks fans, wanted Lynch to get the ball to win or lose the game.

Seattle had run that pass play all season long because Lynch's goal line numbers actually weren't good all season long in '14. Hightower stopped him on the play before actually. The Pats saw the pass play on film as a very consistent play and they were ready for it.

The pass play the Hawks ran was nothing new...... they'd run it a lot with success which is why the Pats saw it on film which is why they were prepared for it

I will never buy that Earl Morrall, the NFL MVP who was lighting up the NFL's top defenses all year, suddenly couldn't pass against a considerably weaker AFL defense. Bubba Smith went to his grave saying the game was fixed, and to this day I've never heard Earl Morrall speak on what the hell happened which only fuels my suspicion. Billions of dollars were at stake over that game, I can totally see the NFL paying guys off to have it fixed.

I remember that play of course.. many of us here in Washington state felt the NFL or whoever's did not want Lynch as the MVP so they changed it up at the very end.. I was beyond shocked how that game ended.. ML deserved much credit for how he played! Since that season, the hawks are still trying to put together what they had in that year!
