Very similar to the Paraw boats and the bangka. The sails also look the same. Very cool.

I don't know but it's about the traditional canoe

@@rickrry An oldie music but the lyrics goes back to ancient times. I’m not sure what the title is but it’s about the beauty of a canoe and how bless we are to engineer such watercraft. Canoes are foundations of pacific island culture. Without it we are noting.

Great sailboat! Any plans somewhere? I'm french, living in Bangladesh and building canoes these days... Here all fishing boats have turned to diesel... I'd be really pleased to show its possible to fish with a sail! Greetings

That's a longnose emperor of the species name of Lethrinus elongatus Valenciennes. We call it in Kiribati te rou. What is your sail made of?

Sail canvas available from eBay or Amazon. Or if you want t go old school just weave some coconut fibers together to make one.

Its a Speedpuck gps. We measured the canoes performance to create polar plots.

I think it's called "waan Aelon kein" but not 100% sure

Geees that thing moves for such a basic rig. You would never need an outboard on those islands if you can get around this quickly!

A rudder with tiller is mounted on the stern of this canoe. Steering paddles are used on others as well

I don't see how. There is nothing to improve on this design. My opinion as naval architect and small craft designer.
