+The Anonymous User just watched it and it also made me laugh. The way he says "No! you're my mom, and i love you" in a heeling type voice made me laugh and also the fact that he had to say "you're my mom" As if the movie didn't specify that every minute already

The mom in this movie is so underrated, she literally gave up her life, by giving the Helmet to her son, then forfeited her only chance of survival by tearing off the thing that could remove it, she was so prepared to do this and she even smiled while doing it. I feel like this scene would have had more of an impact is she died, to show a mothers ultimate love. I'm happy she lived but it would have been more impacting if she had died

As weird as it may sound, the part that usually gets me is when Gribble screams “Milo! I’m coming, buddy!” Just the desperation in his voice, and the determination not to let what happened to him happen to Milo. He lost his mother, and refuses to let anyone else go through what he went through. It’s as though he’s ANGRY that it’s happening again.

The scene of him digging up the helmet is, in my opinion, one of the best callbacks in a kid's movie. The original flashback shows the helmet falling in a recognizable spot, but you as the viewer think it’s just a framing device to end the flashback, and don’t think anything will come of it. Then, when he runs to that same spot and begins digging, revealing that same helmet, it clicks in your mind that they were setting up the solution to this scene in that flashback. It’s so small that you don’t even realize it’s a setup until the payoff, which is why I consider it to be so perfect.

Both the mom and Milo are heroes in this scene He realizes that the supervisor will shoot at them and pushes his mother away, and she gives up her helmet, even brakes the mechanic to take it off, to ensure her son's survival. That's how motherhood should be. That! Not irresponsible half teenagers, who call unborn children "parasites" and women opting for self sterilization to safe "the climate"!

She isn't the only one was willing to sacrifice her life. Milo was, too. He tried to give the helmet back, and not to mention he purposefully shoved his mom out of the way so he would get shot instead of her.

I was going through a similar phase as the boy in this movie when I had seen this for the first time. I was around 7-8, and I cried at this scene as I realized how much I would miss my mom if she went away forever. If you have a living, breathing mother who loves you, please give her a hug and tell her you love her.

This movie scared the crap out of me. The people at my daycare, decided that it would be a spectacular idea to show this to a room full of 6 year olds. Long story short, I wouldn’t let my mom leave me for even a second, for almost a year.
