I officially romanced Morrigan and married Anora to become king. The dope thing is if you tell Morrigan its strictly political and that it works in favor for you and Anora she will continue to be your love interest. You can also still kill her father Loghain as long as you let Allister swing the sword (Ned Stark would not approve) and she will go through with the marriage.

It's a good option when you think about it. My Cousland was in the mindset that his chance for a a normal life was over when he joined the Wardens. He didn't seek out romance, because it would be wrong to fall in love when he was destined to live and die on the battlefield. He marries Anora to make sure she can't betray them easily, and so his best friend doesn't get stuck with a life he doesn't want. The Prince Consort also makes things better, as it allows him more freedom, should the Wardens need him.

nope you're king official on the same level of Alistair/Anora joint rule. It's the landsmeet that decides if you were just "prince" you couldn't have been able to fight Anora over the throne (ending slide) The Warden is already much more powerful than she is. He comes from a ancient bloodline older than the Theirin,while the Mac Tir were elevated to nobility.Anora herself was born as a commoner just like her father.

well i knew about Anora's origins but if you're fully the King why does Anora still call you prince, and consort from time to time when she's not calling you Warden or Husband in Awakening?

When announcing their engagement, Anora refers to the Warden as Ferelden's future king. I guess this was either a subtle nod to the Warden winning Anora over, or an oversight.

It could also just be that it sounds more dramatic than "husband," "prince," or "consort".

Reasons to be-friend loghain 1. He’s an easy sacrificial lamb. Ultimate sacrifice him against the Archdemon or in the Fade for Inquisition 2. His voice actor is pretty cool 3. He loves Ferelden, but made bad choices 4. He doesn’t really question your morals 5. He’s the second Origins character that actually visits you in Vigil’s Keep and gives you a gift. 6. He’s a pretty good tank 7. He loves his daughter 8. He actually compliments you and calls you a ‘Natural leader’ better than he was. If you high approval him. However, I only do this if everyone has a good ending So Anora and Alistair rule together Loghain a grey warden

@@delta2372 yes true. Sparing Lohgan and making him a Grey Warden automatically makes Alistair leaves the group. So it is not possible to keep Lohgan alive and at the same time have Alistair and Anora marry.

Basically Arnora: "I don't know what to do with my hands"

I like how in Awakening one of the background characters asks "Hows your wife?". He will say it regardless though.

befriending Loghain is quite...interesting, human nature is something impressive.

But while this Blight is ongoing, and I know it to BE ongoing since I saw our king die with my own eyes, you MUST allow me to be the head general and head south to meet them. I will be sending envoys to every Grey Warden branch to see what can be done, and using my troops to protect the smallfolk." Instead, he tries to assassinate the only remaining grey wardens, blocks Orlesian grey warden aid, has multiple nobles offed, and attempts to seize power for himself (and somewhat for his daughter). REGARDLESS of what you think of Cailan or Ostagar, everything that came after is a huge power grab by Loghain at a time Fereldan could least afford it. Countless small folk met their end to the Darkspawn because Loghain ran to Denerim to play politics, and pulled all the forces of the country into a bitter Civil War.

This option has always felt the most realistic adaptation of how marriage was when it’s sole purpose was to form alliances. It was basically just a business deed.

I don't know why, but I think Anora will fall in love with the Warden,when they married. Sonner or later ^_^ And your Warden is a cute one, DanaDuchy. I was hoping for a kiss (or just a cheek kiss) inAwkening, but...oh well...maybe in a DLC or in DA3 ^^'

Possibly, if we agree on that the Warden disappeared in either late 37 or 38 Dragon. If so, spending seven/eight years together is a plus, but it all comes down to headcanon really. In Inquisition, the Hero of Ferelden codex states something I did not expect, and I'm uncertain why BioWare didn't just let it be ambiguous.

Idk that a Queen Warden would be “always” absent, and not conveniently so as we’re shown in Inquisition, just because of the variety of the game, but even she still would be greater parent than Anora. She meant well... yes... she just sucks at being good. Imagine if she’d had a child with Cailan; “I’m sorry darling, your dad is dead... but it was the best move my dad could have made... yes, he is also about to imprison me, but is what the land needs” wtf?... Uhm, no.

Fact is, Anora only cares about staying on the throne. If you don't talk to her, she straight up lies during the landsmeet & makes you look like a kidnapper, all in an attempt to stay Queen. She may be a good ruler, but she don't GAF about anything other than being queen. Also, she can't produce an heir so her marrying Alistar or the Warden is a bad idea.

Anora: best ass in DA:O. And now owned by my Warden *evil laugh*.

Is it bad that I feel nothing for anora's well- being? Like if she fell off a cliff, "Oh...Well, that happens."

None of my runs had that traitor Loghain live.

My playthrough I married anora and also kept Leliana as a side piece yet still impregnated morrigan. Yes it is possible but you got to do it properly

Is it just me or does Anora seem to have softened up to Prince Cousland in the months following their wedding, maybe even developed a genuine affection? Based on how she talkes to him in Awakening, I'd like to think so. Loghain may say that she had a "horrified look" when he asked about an heir but we have to remember that it was literally her DAD basically asking "Hey, you two bangin' yet?" And his line about her managing to convice the Prince to leave the court and having "a way of getting what she wants" (alluding to the idea that she just wants to get him out of the way), kinda conflicts with Anora herself admitting that having to ask him to leave court to deal with whatever is going on with the darkspawn around Vigil's Keep troubles her. And that she hopes his returning to the Grey Wardens is only temorary. Admittedly, she may just be faking the affection but...

Honestly, it's a shame that Alistair feels obligated to leave the Grey Wardens if Loghain lives. Loghain's an asshole, yes. He does deserve execution. But penance in service as a Grey Warden forced to live out his life serving as a Warden, especially in a country he despises - it seems that it would work rather well for all parties. Ah well, at least he can serve as king one way or another.

I appreciate you making this video, because it was something that was never going to happen in my game, no matter how many times I play it. Anora really is a slippery little creature, who will sell whatever it takes to give herself power -- including herself. For all of those commenting that they didn't like Anora simply because she didn't do anything to stop Loghain, that's the point. She may have grieved Cailan's death (may, depending on your own take/ game), but as soon as it happened she began her move to get on the throne. The only reason she seeks you out at Denerim is to give herself a chip to throw in against you if you didn't play for her and an ear to convince you that she should get the throne. It had nothing to do with not stopping Loghain; it had to do with working his every moment to build a perfect stage for her Royal Highness to stand upon. It made me laugh a little when I played "Awakening" the first time. Can anyone honestly imagine Anora marching down the road, in the middle of the night, into a potentially dangerous keep, in her sparkly gown? It was so crazily out of place.

Loghain does whatever he deems necessary to win, short of asking Orlais for assistance, and for good reason. He knew Ostagar was lost so he bailed, and thought he alone would be enough to defeat the darkspawn, as he didn't think it was a true blight. The Stolen Throne is a book that shows how Maric and Loghain became friends, and that Loghain isn't a bad guy

In Ostagar the darkspawn were already smarter thanks to the Architect. The tunnel in the tower wasn’t a coincidence. Ostagar wasn’t a lost battle, but the victory they could have achieved there would be minimal. They had the terrain advantage to compensate for the numerical superiority of the horde, but that depended on the Loghain’s Army fighting spirit. An army with seasoned warriors, plus the high morale caused by a legendary hero in the battlefield, defeat wasn’t a certainty.

How are they going to implement this in Inquisition? Interesting outcome for sure.

dragnet53 actually it's a couple of dialogue lines from Loghain. "the man you're speaking of is the warden commander of Ferelden,also Prince-consort to Anora" when it should be "the man you're speaking of is my son-in-law,the HoF also the Warden commander and King of Ferelden with my daughter Anora" Anora doesn't mention you. or if Leliana is your mistress the game will say "The mistress to the prince-consort of Ferelden" when it should be "the mistress to the *King* of Ferelden" it's rather annoying called consort when the HNF that married alistair is called "Queen" rather than "princess-consort" it's clear that they didn't care and that what you get is almost the same as Queen Anora alone.

***** you are more lucky if you marry Alistair,you are referred as Queen in Inquisition,Alistair gets a unique reaction and a unique letter from the Female HoF while if you're male and became King,you'll be barely mentioned three times as "prince-consort" (already giving off the idea that you are nothing but a plaything for Anora,but it cannot be) and nothing more,no special letter for Anora (by the HoF) or no special dialogue from Anora,there is nothing but a couple mentions by Loghain and if Leliana is your mistress she's mentioned as your mistress (to the prince consort of ferelden when it should have been Mistress to the king of ferelden) if you import a warden that has married Anora and became king is EXACTLY THE SAME as Queen Anora rules alone,when it has been proven that it's not true and that King Cousland rules jointly. it's insulting,but predictable from EAware,especially from Gayder who heavily favours females. stupid illusion of choice,probably EAware doesn't aknownledge saved games outside their own where they presume that everyone follows the same path,theirs.

Clone Stormtrooper rule applies in real life too. Notice how the Queen of England's husband is called Prince Phillip, and not King Phillip. It's because the King is the highest title there is, and since Queen Elizabeth currently has the highest title, her husband's title shouldn't be higher than hers.

I’ve run this through so many different ways and I’ve never had this particular outcome.

Loghain is a testament that some antagonists are capable of redeeming themselves for their wrongdoings, I really love this game, wish they'd remake it or just make the graphics and gameplay a bit better.

Plus his real punishment is not drinking the taint and becoming a grey warden, but having to live in Orlais. That is a punishment way better than death.

The epilogue where she rules alone makes mention that she rebutts all proposals because they do not meet her standards for a good man; that of her father. The unspoken implication being that in that "intimidating" remark, she essentially concedes that the Cousland warden is the only other bloke that impresses her as much as her father.

@@mortenaassauthen8961 Which means... Wardem Cousland and Alistair are the only ones worthy. Hardened Alistair at least. Both Anora and Loghain recognize his worthy, Loghain when he loses the duel and Anora when he shows his interest in becoming a good king. Pity she's likely barren and will not be mother to the next king/queen.

@@xeagaort plus, even if the Warden is prince consort there is no mention whatsoever of Anora being mother... Only Loghain in Awakening saying he wants grandkids.

I wanted to like Anora as she clearly has the tact and sharp mind for politics, but she also seemingly had no loyalty to anybody except herself.

I think its awesome they add choice..Allister who is next in line die to blood linege wasnt even ready to lead a country...Anora can run the country while your warden can lead and i know it seems like this is business bt I bet Anora and the warden can really have feelings for each other..and make love rather than sex

You can talk to Anora in the Assassin DLC in DA2, but I never tried it when the Warden married her, it would be interesting. I would also like to see Loghain, but if it is said that he died, I would understand it due to his age, the fact that he goes to Orlais being a veteran of the war against them, etc.

I get the feeling that this is a business transaction

Like how most weddings were, in real world history. If I ever did a male Cousland playthrough, I'm definitely going to find a way to give Morrigan her baby, harden Lelianna to make her mistress, and marry Anora (while Loghain remains alive and Alistair is banished). Because that sounds like the most interesting series of events that could come out of DAO.

You're technically prince consort. Though given that the Cousland family has noble seniority, I'm not sure why.

If you went through the ritual with Morrigan then kill the archdemon, I'm surprised that none of the wardens question it in awakening. Especially considering the fact that Riordan always dies I'd assume some might think that he actually killed it instead

i know your comment is old but i think they question it at the end of origins, both alistair and loghain mention the orlesians asking questions , as for awakening most of the people you meet are new recruits, they wouldn't know . the real question is why Woolsey didn't ask you about it since she receives order's from the first warden but then again shes no grey warden. i hope in future games they ask about it even mistrusting the warden if he chose not to answer

You kinda wonder why Anora didn't give you one night of 'inspiration' before your final battle. True, that would interfere with Morrigan's plan but well, they could've done that before Anora.

Marrying the Queen, or the King in Alistair's case, is never a good idea in my view. If I recall, Wardens can't have children, so the royal line would stop with their deaths. Better to find an alternative if possible.

I’m not sure if this is a spoiler, but here’s the warning. I believe there was a Elf mage warden in inquisition who had an affair with a king. She got pregnant, and all the taint left her body. Won’t give a name for spoilers. It’s rare, very rare. But has happened.

Fereldens succession was doomed as soon as Cailan croaked it. The Landsmeet should hope that one of the Theirins had stuff going on the side, because it's very clear Alistair is probably infertile.

Anora is a politician, and to gain her ends she will lie to your face, stab you in the back, and try to get you killed. She allies herself with Arl Howe, and there are several instances in-game where it’s said she was never really a prisoner at all. If you recruit Loghain he speaks of how it must have amused her to get the Warden to come running to the rescue.

Personally... Both. Alistair is no politician and Anora is no charismatic leader. They complete each other, unfortunately there is the heir problem. Can’t be easy for Anora to bed her late husband’s little brother.

I always pick Alistair. I will never put Anora on the throne during any of my playthroughs. Even though she may have been a good ruler per se, she's a spineless, treacherous rat who's willing to throw both her father, her rescuers and probably ANYONE else in front of the bus to achive her own goals. To me it's plain common sense that people like that neither can nor should be trusted, let alone be put in any form of authority position

Om glad you did the logical thing and kept loghain alive and not crybaby alistair loghain is actually a badass and a dope dude

oh ok, I tried leaving Alistair alive while trying to marry Anora and the ending bugged. So Alistair has to die? Pretty sure there isn't a way to not kill either of them

You don't have to kill Alistair while marrying Anora. You could also just banish him. You can have a funny DA2 cameo of Alistair that way. What was the bug?
