This song hits my eyes. I remember when my dad was away so my aunt, Marylin, would take me places everywhere. She had a son(my cousin) that I could play with, and I loved her deeply, as she put a puncture in my heart. She would call me baby doll and me and my older brother hung out with her. She had many complications but doctors were able to save her. Marylin got home one night, with intense depression and didn’t want dinner. She just wanted to go to sleep. When it was my cousin’s bedtime, she wouldn’t move, and he even pushed her, and yelled in her ear. She wouldn’t move, and my cousin asked grandma what to do. She said lay on her and she will move. She didn’t move however. The next day my brother and dad got up and I was not there at the time, my mom had custody of me. She was stiff and freezing, as rigor mortis had struck. She couldn’t move and was pale. Grandpa tried CPR and everything, but couldn’t do anything. Once she was in the hospital, the heart beat sensor was turned on, but the heart line kept moving straight. I’ll miss her forever. Even if she is gone, the memories should not disappear. Marilyn Murr 2-16-1966 - 12-21-2020

I found this song incredibly enjoyable to play. I have been practicing this song for about 3 months around 30 minutes a day. I mainly wanted to learn this song to play in front of my class, but I didn't know if I would be able to play through the whole song before I had to play (there were parts where I couldn't play, and I had to play in about 2 weeks). There was a point where I almost gave up entirely on the song, but I pulled myself together and practiced even harder. The 30 minutes turned into a couple hours of practicing a day. The day came where I had to play this song in front of everyone. I was extremely nervous, but went through with it. I am so glad I learned this song, and i'm also glad I didn't give up.

The rubato feel in this piece is some of the most emotion you'll ever hear in any song ever. Like seriously, no matter how many times you watch the scene or just hear the song by itself, it smacks you in the heart every single time. Incredible, next level songwriting.

While you get older you start crying in the beginning when the music is happy because it reminds you all the happy memories you got and you are already in the future you were afraid of as a child... But whatever happens, always remember that life has ups and downs, good days and bad days are coming, but everytime you get stronger and this is what makes all experiences precious! Everybody stay safe and always remember to tell your loved ones that you love them ❤️

About five months ago, I was blindsided and a partner of over 4.5 years left me. I am about to graduate undergrad and we were going to get married and move in. I know exactly what that feels like..

I've been in this depressive state for the past two years and I can't make myself feel anything. My grandfather died of old age this year and my aunt that took care of us for as long as I could remember passed away from lung cancer today. I resent myself because I want to cry so bad but I can't seem to care a whole lot. I don't know how to put it, of course, I care a lot but something seems out of place. I searched for this piece specifically and I bawled my eyes out listening to this. It cleared the fog in my head and made me remember the times I had with her. Music is a powerful thing, it's the wind that guides our sail when the waves are rough.

my grandmother died last year, I was so shocked and angry because I didn't see her before she died , I didn't know what was going on and her struggle with her disease, I was so frustrated and angry that i didnt see her one last time, you know when someone you love and was like a parent to you your whole life (my mum and my aunt also raised me and my dad was always traveling and usually didnt have time to see each other and me and my mum hate him for understandable reasons), I didn't cry during the funeral, it was like I didn't care but I did , my mother noticed it , she said one day that I didn't care for her , I told her I cared and I was sad but didn't tell her the whole truth, I keep coming to music like this to experience the relief after crying but every time I get more and more angrier, your comment was really relatable and I don't usually post stuff like this but I want someone to at least talk to

The thing that gets me about this song is it's so incredible 45 seconds in. The melody is infectious, and disney will use it all the time, but only the first 10-20 seconds in that key. It doesn't give away the visual story of this movie, which is one of the most gutwrenching, tearjerking, heartbreaking things they've produced outside of old yellar. The same keys are produced and you can feel your body and soul change as the beat and keys change. But only if you hang on.

wow whoever made this is unreal. how does one compose a piece that can literally make you sad in seconds. I don't think there's one person on this earth that won't feel sad listening to this. and to know the context of the movie and how this song gets used in the story- insane emotions

This is the song I want played at my funeral, so I can make sure everyone is crying.

Mr.Dog18 I’m assuming he’s referring to a former friend he used to play video games with. Either it’s been a while since they’ve gotten together to play online and as a result they’ve grown apart and are more strangers now then friends. Or even worse, and he has my heartfelt condolences for it, his friend passed away, and it turns out that that moment seven years ago, before his friend left for dinner, was the last time they would ever play online together ever again. The fact his account says the last time his friend was online seven years ago serves as a reminder of that last morning, afternoon, or evening they would spend playing video games. Sadly, these are both experiences many of the more older individuals in gaming have experienced. The advent of Halo on Xbox 360 brought so many of us together for a bout of CTF on Valhalla or to create some of the most insane maps in Forge. But things happen, friends get busy with life or some pass away sooner then we expect, and now those moments are even more significant. Especially when you look at their account and see the last time they’ve been online was seven years ago.

Since the beginning of September, I'd been learning this song for my girlfriend who loves Disney/Pixar, and this film in particular. I cried for a good... let’s say 5 minutes so I don’t seem crazy.

2 years ago my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and only a couple months after the fact she already succumbed to it and died. Disneys UP was one of her favorite movies, last but not least because of it's excellent intro. These days this melody is my instantaneous trigger to cry - no matter where I am. Never really had the opportunity to tell my mum how much i appreciated all she had done for me, since I'm disabled myself she was always there for me, taking care of me. Until she wasn't.

I learned this whole thing over about one month by skipping most of lunch and spending about 45min practicing with a slight background on piano. The hardest part was each hand playing a different part one playing bass clef and the other playing treble clef.

When I was in elementary school, when my mom picked me up, there was an old man who always sat outside. And I would roll down my window to wave at him. This was basically my daily routine. One day he wasn’t sitting outside as usual, so I thought maybe it was too hot. And I guess it was hot for the rest of my school year.

Anytime i hear this song i close my eyes and think about when i was little, but when the slow part hit my body rushes back to reality and i noticed how much my life has changed, and not a good way. i love this song so much it makes me so calm. i have it saved for when me or my friends have panic attacks i put on headphones and i just close my eyes and listen. it reminds me of running along the beach with my best friend as little kids. :)

I remember when I was 11 I saw this movie. At the end I got so sad so my mom asked why and I said “because they’ll never see each other again. Some time later I was on KZread and I found this song again. I loved it so much that I begged my mom for a piano for Christmas, and I got one. I started learning this song. And I remember was so mad because I couldn’t play both hands at the same time. Now it’s been 5 years and I just remembered this song again and I’m gonna learn the rest of it today. Good memories:’) Piano became my biggest passion because of this song. And i still love it so much

Something that takes this piece of music to another level is that in the beginning, the music has a playful bounce to it representing their youth. But as the song goes in, the bounce slowly disappears, which is them getting old. The bounce comes back though when Mr. Fredricksen buys the tickets to go to Paradise Falls, but goes away quickly when Ellie ends up in the hospital.
