    Skyler (S5/E4) : “I will not have my children living in a house where dealing drugs and hurting and killing people people is shrugged off as, ‘shit happens.’” Todd, discussing Drew Sharp’s murder (S5E6): “Shit happens.”

    The fact the start of the episode shows them mechanically taking apart the bike and preparing the acid to get rid of it. And then it shows the body without any further information so your brain connects the dots.

    That is probably the most chilling sequence through this whole show. It was so much more foreboding knowing what it represents to come. Thank goodness is was followed by Jessie's awkwardness at dinner.

    As Jesse is leaving the lab Walt is whistling a hymn called 'Lily of the Valley'. Walt's "Empire Business" is even a called back to 0206 when Walt brings up Gretchen's empire business during their discord with each other. 0508 has 0206 references as well.

    I knew that Eric would react like that to the dinner scene haha The worst part with the Jesse/Todd stuff is that *Jesse* was actually the one who first said to Todd, "nobody but us can ever know that this robbery ever happened". If they hadn't emphasized that so much, Todd might not have done what he did. But he'd still absolutely be a messed up individual

    I'm gonna play devil's advocate. In Walt's mind, and reality tbf, it was his brain and genius + his research and hard work that created Gray Matter. In fact, even Gretchen tells Walt as far as she is concerned he is still owed money. She never disputed him when he tells her that it was his research and work. Walt had always done the right thing his entire life, and the only thing he got for it was a painful, and slow death sentence (lung cancer). This is why Walt says F it. In his mind, the only thing that mattered (at first) was making as much money as he could before he died or was too sick to continue cooking. Of course he could've accepted Gretchen's offer, but in his mind, that would be the 2nd biggest mistake of his life (after selling out). The writing is top tier, because everything that seems like it's black and white, is actually "gray' (pun intended)...lol

    The craziest part is Skylar's rant about how she doesn't want her kids to be around in an environment where he or his associates put each other in mortal danger and it's shrugged off as "Shit happens," only to have Tod say the exact line about something infinitely worse. Masks would have been no use. As Jesse pointed out, they had to do this and no one know the train had been robbed. A group of guys with masks on would have shouted to the boy on the bike, "Robbers!". Then they would have had to do what Todd did. The train driver and the engineer couldn't see what was going on since the train had gone round a bend. So the back of the train (where the methylamine wagon was located) was totally out of sight from the front. That is why they chose that precise spot to stop the train. So, no masks were needed to prevent the two train guys seeing the robbers' faces. The presence of the boy was just bad luck.

    I find it so endearing just how protective Jesse is of kids. He’s done a lot of really awful things, but I think deep down he has a heart and was just victim to a bad crowd early on. Not that I’m justifying the bad things he did, but I don’t think he would have done the things he did if he wasn’t under Walt’s control.

    If kuby was in place of Todd and Todd had to handle the distraction, maybe he could’ve been more believable. Kuby would be more effective and sociable with Drew Sharp. Saying that his team was handling a construction work site. And if drew spoke Spanish, he would speak Spanish too. That things were some construction project. Nothing else. It’s a water reservoir project. That’s all Drew would believe and maybe he would ride out. Alive. Things would be better.

    What you don't realize is that the problem wasn't only that the kid saw their faces, but they also went thought a lot of trouble to make it not be knows that someone stole the methlamine. Now of course, he's just a kid, and he probably didn't realise what was going on, and who's he gonna tell anyway. No one would have cared about some train being robbed. But they set out with one rule: No witnesses whatsover. Mask or no mask.

  • @soundofnellody262

    @soundofnellody262

    Hm.. But the kid didn't see them robbing the train, or am I mistaken? He saw them only afterwards without any context at all. And if nobody ever finds out that the train was robbed.. How high are the chances that the boy suddenly connect some dots he never witnessed in the first place and tells his parents: I think I saw a train robbery. If the train robbery would be all over the news, then he might connect some dots. But not with a robbery that nobody ever suppose to find out about. Sorry, I hope you understand the point I try to make. My english isn''t the best :)

I love to hate Walter. I never had a cringe-feeling about him (except the bed-scenes..lol) The funny thing is, that I liked him very much in Malcolm in the middle. I mean him and his role as the funny, crazy-(un)cool Dad. And seeing him in this. So very different from Hal, and in both roles so convincing.
