Skyler (S5/E4) : “I will not have my children living in a house where dealing drugs and hurting and killing people people is shrugged off as, ‘shit happens.’” Todd, discussing Drew Sharp’s murder (S5E6): “Shit happens.”

Damn, nice connection.
20:43 great job remembering that walt seeing his dad as weak and not wanting to be seen as weak himself as part of his motivation

hey, thanks for watching 😊
The fact the start of the episode shows them mechanically taking apart the bike and preparing the acid to get rid of it. And then it shows the body without any further information so your brain connects the dots.

That is probably the most chilling sequence through this whole show. It was so much more foreboding knowing what it represents to come. Thank goodness is was followed by Jessie's awkwardness at dinner.
As Jesse is leaving the lab Walt is whistling a hymn called 'Lily of the Valley'. Walt's "Empire Business" is even a called back to 0206 when Walt brings up Gretchen's empire business during their discord with each other. 0508 has 0206 references as well.

@@samfann1768 Right! Given Walt's scientific contempt of religion (see next episode) Mike's monologue is the most probable reason Walt would know a protestant hymn.

my god, stop trying to connect things that the writters didn't meant to do. That song is not Lily of the Valley. I mean, the show is really great, but not everything is perfectly connected.
I love your reactions to this show. I hope you'll stick it out and move on to El Camino & Better Call Saul as well. BCS is one of my favorites.
I knew that Eric would react like that to the dinner scene haha The worst part with the Jesse/Todd stuff is that *Jesse* was actually the one who first said to Todd, "nobody but us can ever know that this robbery ever happened". If they hadn't emphasized that so much, Todd might not have done what he did. But he'd still absolutely be a messed up individual
This dinner scene is like every single dinner with other people feels to me :D

I'm gonna play devil's advocate. In Walt's mind, and reality tbf, it was his brain and genius + his research and hard work that created Gray Matter. In fact, even Gretchen tells Walt as far as she is concerned he is still owed money. She never disputed him when he tells her that it was his research and work. Walt had always done the right thing his entire life, and the only thing he got for it was a painful, and slow death sentence (lung cancer). This is why Walt says F it. In his mind, the only thing that mattered (at first) was making as much money as he could before he died or was too sick to continue cooking. Of course he could've accepted Gretchen's offer, but in his mind, that would be the 2nd biggest mistake of his life (after selling out). The writing is top tier, because everything that seems like it's black and white, is actually "gray' (pun intended)...lol
Through this whole adventure Walt is presented with so many off-ramps, so many chances to stop and walk away, but he just keeps going!

Pride and ego
The craziest part is Skylar's rant about how she doesn't want her kids to be around in an environment where he or his associates put each other in mortal danger and it's shrugged off as "Shit happens," only to have Tod say the exact line about something infinitely worse. I was also going to mention the Lily of the Valley song Walt is whistling but @Justinhomii beat me to it 😅

"I'm in the Empire Business." You know, the Empire of spiraling out of control over terminal grief & spite over former business partners - and taking my whole family down with me without any genuine consideration of the deleterious impacts it has on them. THAT kind of Empire.
I love how Jesse is sitting at the opposite side of the table where Walt Jr. usually sits.
Ive always thought of the guy making the deal with Mike as budget Wolverine. he does look a bit like owen wilson though!
i think the reason why walt always protect and cares for jessy is because walt got him into this mess.

Drew's death was totally pointless. At most he's like "hey mom and dad, there were some workers by the tracks" and mom and dad are like "yeah, railroads need to be fixed sometimes"
No it was actually Jesse that said no one can know what they're doing.
It's not about the money anymore. Walt likes the power and the game.
This episodes cold open is so freaking disturbing. Easily one of the series’ top darkest moments.
Contrary to popular belief, Walt is whisting "Danny Boy" not "Lilly of the Valley." I used to post links to two good videos so people could listen, but KZread deleted them. You will have to search and compare yourself (see "Danny Boy, Live at Red Rocks - The Tabernacle Choir" and listen to the instrumental intro)...but only Lilly of the Valley if you're tone deaf.
Todd is devoid of empathy, he doesn't understand how other people are emotionally affected by certain things.
Masks would have been no use. As Jesse pointed out, they had to do this and no one know the train had been robbed. A group of guys with masks on would have shouted to the boy on the bike, "Robbers!". Then they would have had to do what Todd did. The train driver and the engineer couldn't see what was going on since the train had gone round a bend. So the back of the train (where the methylamine wagon was located) was totally out of sight from the front. That is why they chose that precise spot to stop the train. So, no masks were needed to prevent the two train guys seeing the robbers' faces. The presence of the boy was just bad luck.
P.S. I can wait for the rest of the episodes! This is 1 of a very small handful of shows ever made that are above all others IMHO.
Honestly ive probably commented the same thing before, but every episode after this one is peak. When it aired, the next two episodes were the last of the 'season.' S5 was broken into two parts. The second half is my favorite part of the show by far
Good is psychopath but even more chilling is that Walt isn’t affected by it in the slightest
At last......we get to episode 7.....which means episode 8 comes next! Then 9! And 10! Oh man, can't it be next week already????!!! 😅

Walt had alluded that he had left Gretchen and Grey matter because he couldn't stand that she came from money in season 1. His hubris has always been his flaw.
Nah Walt has never had genuine concern for Jesse, it’s more about control
@soundofnellody262

I think it is a mix of both. But the control-part clearly dominates Walts actions.
Are you gonna watch Better Call Saul as well? It begins a bit slower than this, but it's incredible as well.
I love every scene with Saul Goodman. I currently re-watch Better Call Saul and it is so gooood. Completely different pacing than BB but at least on same level of quality.
Todd kept the tarantula for the show to show he doesn't care. He kept it like, "cool look at my prize" showing how sick minded he is getting a prize for killing a kid. Kinda like how serial killers keep trophies from there victims
Todd, the Sociopath of the show. Crazy crazy crazy character…

Next episode is iconic
"Care to guess how much that company is worth? BEELINS! "
Does it eat through metal? You forgot the tub. Metal glass ceramic but not that specific plastic
I find it so endearing just how protective Jesse is of kids. He’s done a lot of really awful things, but I think deep down he has a heart and was just victim to a bad crowd early on. Not that I’m justifying the bad things he did, but I don’t think he would have done the things he did if he wasn’t under Walt’s control.
He is whistling the song lily of the valley interesting also they don't have Gus trucks to take the melted bodies anymore so i think they use Todds crew cuz they have trucks
They shoulda just offed Walt here. After he refuses to sell. They want out, the heat is coming on top and they gave a neat solution. Could even have paid off Skyler. Bad choice not doing so
Jesse was the 1 that said, "No one could know about this train robbery." Walt just asked Todd, "Are u sure?" When Todd said he "understood"
I love how egotistical walt is, the actor makes it very entertaining in a this smug bastard is love to hate way. In he drops great one-liners.
I thought about the mask thing and how it’s not a plot hole, the point wasn’t for no one to find out they committed the robbery the point was that no one can know the robbery even happened. If they were wearing masks it wouldn’t have mattered
(psst: it's "dissolving", not "melting" 😉)
If kuby was in place of Todd and Todd had to handle the distraction, maybe he could’ve been more believable. Kuby would be more effective and sociable with Drew Sharp. Saying that his team was handling a construction work site. And if drew spoke Spanish, he would speak Spanish too. That things were some construction project. Nothing else. It’s a water reservoir project. That’s all Drew would believe and maybe he would ride out. Alive. Things would be better.
"Im inthe empire business" ohhh the weight behind this sentence
That kid looked more like 12 to me lol

I am really not good in guessing age of people. Especially kids lol. Could be all from 10 til 15 to me
What you don't realize is that the problem wasn't only that the kid saw their faces, but they also went thought a lot of trouble to make it not be knows that someone stole the methlamine. Now of course, he's just a kid, and he probably didn't realise what was going on, and who's he gonna tell anyway. No one would have cared about some train being robbed. But they set out with one rule: No witnesses whatsover. Mask or no mask.
@soundofnellody262
14 күн бұрын
Hm.. But the kid didn't see them robbing the train, or am I mistaken? He saw them only afterwards without any context at all. And if nobody ever finds out that the train was robbed.. How high are the chances that the boy suddenly connect some dots he never witnessed in the first place and tells his parents: I think I saw a train robbery. If the train robbery would be all over the news, then he might connect some dots. But not with a robbery that nobody ever suppose to find out about. Sorry, I hope you understand the point I try to make. My english isn''t the best :)
Tod did what he had to do, they all said no lose ends no one other can know.

yup, literally none of his guesses are correct
can we at least admit that Bryan plays walt/ Heisenberg flawlessly.? the bringing up that he's cringe every 5 seconds gets old. Walt is written this way.. personally when I watched the first time I was cheering him on every step of the way. because it's a tv show .. In real life I would despise him.

I agree with you 100 %. He is playing it to perfection. I have no love for Walters actions and attitudes. But I admire how this character is written and how Bryan brings him to life. I love to hate Walter. I never had a cringe-feeling about him (except the bed-scenes..lol) The funny thing is, that I liked him very much in Malcolm in the middle. I mean him and his role as the funny, crazy-(un)cool Dad. And seeing him in this. So very different from Hal, and in both roles so convincing.
8:49 Bro is ruining joke punchlines out here
It's hard to watch reactors that seem to take no joy in the story, and without question completely despise the protagonist. It's tough.
Not to make it weird. But Kailyn is kind of a unicorn! She's attractive AND a big Star Wars sci-fi nerd. I mean come on! Hot girls aren't supposed to do that! ❤ Anyway... atta boy Eric! CHEERS fam!
