This is the house in Nepal, close to Swayambhu, in which Marpa used to stay on his travels from Tibet to India. Marpa brought many lineages of Varjayana buddhism to Tibet, including the very famous Six Yogas of Naropa.
Due to the altitude difference of Tibet and India he used to stay at this place on each of his 4 travels for up to 2 years in order to acclimatize.
These days nuns of the Drukpa Kagyu school are living here and take care of the place. It got damaged during the last earth quake and works to restore the place are in progress.
Despite not looking as exciting as many of the other pilgrimage places we visited it is one of the strognest powerfields we experienced on our journey.
