Her glance says "girls, we're finally here, we're doing it". It's amazing how expressive she is, how she makes people feel that sincere "saudade" for Portugal, even to those that have never been to that beautiful country. I think that "Amar pelos dois" was the first song that had ever made me cry. It was my first contact with Portuguese culture and this song just confirms that it's such a magical place, full of magical music and people.

I really didn’t want to leave. I don’t rule out that I’m even going to move there one day. My expectations were blown away. Portugal as a country has improved so much in Eurovision since Salvador won the contest. Saudade was my favorite song of the night. 12 points from Sweden! 👏👏👏

Thank you. Actually it was due to the revamp of our national final in 2017. The national broadcaster stopped making it like a talent show and started to invite reputable composers to write songs. The composers then decide if they either perform themselves or invite a singer of their choice to sing. In the case of Salvador, his sister was the composer invited and she asked her brother to sing because she had a newborn child, so she could not commit to be the vocalist. This year I can honestly say that from the 10 finalists in our national final, 5 at least could make the Eurovision final. I am very proud of our selection.

I admire Portuguese language. This song is a pure magic.

Portugal always send special songs. What a beatiful country and people. Greetings from Spain.

Shum - Go A é a única música que ainda oiço da Eurovisão passada. Mas claro agora ficaremos sempre na ideia de que ganharam por causa da situação que ultrapassam. Vai sofrer exatamente o mesmo preconceito que nós em 2017, uma vez que supostamente ganhamos devido ao estado de saúde do Salvador.

Yo quedé anonadado cuando el jurado español no tuvo en cuenta a Portugal para nada. Por lo general siempre suele haber una correspondencia entre países vecinos (entre los países nórdicos, entre los bálticos, entre los balcanes, Grecia y Chipre, Irlanda y UK, etc...) y por lo general Portugal siempre responde bien a los actos españoles (aún cuando varios no han sido buenos) y respondieron de manera perfecta a la actuación de Chanel (más que merecido). Pero esta vez el jurado español si falló, y mucho. yo si suponía que España daría 8, 10 o 12 puntos a Portugal (y los merecía) pero no fue así.

This song is amazing, I was really scared it would be forgotten due to being 3rd in the running order, but I'm so happy they managed to achieve 9th place, love this song from the UK 🇬🇧🇵🇹

As I was watching this video, I actually had to pause it and listen to some gentleman spontaneously singing some Fado at the café below my flat. I'm an expat living in Portugal. Music is not just a part of the culture here, it's a part of everyday life.

I lost mother last week. Now I know how my feeling is called.

Hope you're doing better now. I don't know if you've ever looked for the translation of this song, but when she sings in Portuguese, she says she's lost her shelter, or her safe harbour. I'm certain that's how you must have felt when you lost your mother too😢 all the best

@@claudiafalcao9166 I am incredibly on love with Fado and everything about Portugal, probably many things I wouldn't love if I lived there but at the same time I miss it terribly. I have a 1 yr old daughter who is expressive and sensitive, I wanted to call her something to do with the sea, like Rosemary, Mariza, but in the end she was named after a Fado melody that inspired a picture I painted about the Portuguese soul I guess. It had the sea, seagulls, a lighthouse and a woman with eyes closed, definitely the sea air, I think that's what it was all about, soooo any children's books of Portuguese origin or with illustrations you can recommend would be appreciated a lot! ♥️X

I was speechless after their performance. Vocally the best song of Eurovision this year and they completely turned the atmosphere to a certain peace after singing.

Maro did it. She explained the meaning of the Portuguese word SAUDADE to the entire world, in the most beautiful and simple melody.

Thank you Portugal, once again. Please continue delivering gems like these, whatever the result is.
