Well hendricks, i'm just going to assume you're gone. But the city of chicago will never forget what you've done, especially in 2016

I think he'll get a couple more starts before that decision is made. Maybe until after Steele returns. Hendricks was actually better today than he has been all year. But, if he gets rocked next time and the time after, he's probably going to be released.

Si many runners left on base... You can't really blame it all on the pitcher !

these days, you cannot throw an 88 mph fast ball in MLB and be effective, the hitters send it 460 feet out of the park; it's sad when veteran pitchers you love to see on the mound start losing their skill, but that time for Hendricks has arrived.

  • @micheala7304

@@rayrussell6258 you most definitely can throw an 88 mph off speed pitch and be effective. It's the fact that half of the time he leaves it in the zone and it doesn't move. So he's basically throwing a 88 mph fastball; which will never be effective. An off speed pitcher isn't supposed to blow you away, they are supposed to fool you with how the ball moves. Changeup with no change is a fastball. Either he figures out his change up or he needs to go.

  • @rayrussell6258

@@micheala7304 even the Cubs announcers agree it was an 88 mph fastball that got driven 460 feet to CF in that game, not his change-up, which is slower than 88. Hendricks actually isn't getting hurt by the change-up, it's the lack of fastball velocity that's become his issue. He hurt his throwing arm last year, spent a long time on IL, and only had one decent start after coming back. Lack of fastball velocity mean hitters can sit and wait longer, not worry so much about the change. The change is still moving like it always did. I watched Steve Carlton with the Phillies (then in panic he kept moving teams trying to hold onto a job in MLB), and a few other good veteran pitchers over the years, like Adam Wainwright, suddenly lose the ability to get any movement on fastballs, and once it happens it doesn't come back. That's where Hendrick is right now. He has good stuff in the 1st inning, but after that he's too hit-able.

I don't know how Cabrera loads the bases every inning and gets out of it scoreless most of the time. Drives me nuts.

Hendricks just doest have command or break on his sinker anymore and that was his most affective pitch as of late. He used to cause alot of soft grounders with that sinker and thats just not happening. I will say i do like seeing him with 5ks but its the Marlins so i wont get too exicted about it. But if we dont let him go this year. This 100% has to be his last year

It was good to see Alzolay have a solid outing, but he's leaving that sinker belt-high over and over again. Putting it right on the hitter's barrel. I have faith that he'll sort everything out soon though.
