Marlie sounds like the archetypal great person. Tough as nails and a beast when required, but a gentle and caring soul otherwise. Total great human 👍

So weird that he didn’t know what position she played at the start there..

It wasn’t 7 as in the position. It was 7 as in 7th player to reach the 100 cap milestone

bad move making packer as captain, you can never follow a leader that is so quick to lose discipline as it gives the ok to the rest of the team to do so, hence the discipline along with red cards has gone up since packer was made captain, also as I am here, so easy to run up the score against lesser team, but when the big ones come by - the "backs" try's dried up and as much as I want England to win the world cup, I wont put money on it

Based on that logic, you would never have picked Martin Johnson as England captain.

@@neill392 If I remember right, Discipline got BETTER (even in Johnson) when he became captain (lead by example) - with Packer - it has got worse,

@@user-tr2sv8mb5w Johnson never changed. It was his bloody minded belligerence that got him the job. Who else would have refused to move for the Irish president.

@@neill392 Just had to remind myself of the incident, and that is why He was the best captain, even the Irish players said it was no disrespect to Her, and even said it was all about setting out the stall for the game, he was not going to back down just as the Irish were not, They understood his action, so in their mind he was the best Captain too.

@@user-tr2sv8mb5w Didn't he captain the Lions before he captained England? They wanted someone to look the Bokks in the eye and not back down on that 97 tour. I like to think of both of them in military terms, they are both that rough experienced NCO who you trust to lead you into battle, rough around the edges, but you trust them. To often in the past we've gone for the young public school officer, straight from Sandhurst.
