I really hate to say this but no, that’s not what he means. He wishes he could have a connection with his fans, like us, but knows he couldn’t because he doesn’t know any of us on a personal level. If he understood us on a personal level it would definitely be different. It’s weird for him because he loves his fans yet cannot know who we are individually, he only loves and understands us as a collective and as such cannot have a real human connection to us.

Exactly this, I know to some that don’t really know Mark or have never watched a lot of his content him saying “I got too big” might come off as him having an ego or being arrogant but I think those people are missing the point. The point is, it’s not arrogance, it’s the truth. With 35m+ subscribers on KZread alone and including many other supporters who might not be so much invested in his KZread/gaming content but support him on other platforms, it’s impossible to have a personal connection with every single one of your fans when you’ve got that many.

It reminds me of playing old multiplayer games. With such a small player base, you recognise people, you might send messages to them, even have a couple inside jokes. It puts a face behind that soulless stream of letters and numbers called a gamertag and makes the person feel real. However, that same connection doesn't translate to larger games. The players feel less like humans and just a statistic. I don't know where I was going with this, just reminiscing I guess.

I used to play MMOs a lot, and being on a relatively new, small server, you’d frequently see the same people or guilds and you’d stop and talk for a bit and continue on, it happens enough times that you become friends. But then as the server grows and there’s way more people, you kind of lose that sense of small town feeling. I feel like it’s the same irl, for a small area that sudden grows in size and population, where before everyone was going slow and taking it easy, now that there are more people and it takes longer to do things, people rush by and can’t form those relationships when there are just too many and not a lot of time. Idk, I’m rambling.

It's very rare to see a KZreadr who not only realizes/acknowledges a parasocial relationship with his audience, but also feels like it has a genuine emotional effect on him, knowing he could never make a genuine social connection with all those people who passionately admire and support him.

This is beautiful because he’s not afraid to be blunt about his fame. Most people would under exaggerate their fame for the sake of appearing humble, but he knows we’re not buying it. He respects the intellect of his audience and therefore is able to be completely honest with them. I love that.

What Mark doesn't realize is that he has a personal connection in all of our lives, he may not get to see all of us every day or anything, but he's so relatable that to many of his fans, we're right beside him in every video. Big love, Marky-poo.
@bengrogan9710

You missed the point slightly - He knows full well about that, the term for it is called a parasocial connection: You have a connection to him, he has no connection to you - It is not a 2 way relationship and it can be VERY isolating for the person at the core of it. As the old truism goes "You're never so alone as when you are surrounded by people"
Жыл бұрын
I think it's more like: He can not really have a personal connection to us in the way we would have our own real life friends or family. I think if he could: He would go up to every single fan of his and want to get to know them and their troubles and try to do something to help them through it personally. Not just through the things he does in video's. And the fact that there are so many people in his fanbase, made him realize that he could never do that to everyone. Only a select few could have that and that broke his heart.

I think this is the reason Unus Annus was so good for him mentally, because it wasn’t ever a HUGE deal. I mean yes, it became way bigger than they thought and for the death over a million people watched live. But it was always this underground thing where it always felt like it all happened so much more intimately. They infiltrated the conspiracy server and were able to see the memes grow over time now getting to a little bit reliving those first moments as content creators without a huge following. Plus it was obviously cool to know that not everyone of his fans knew about the channel until it was over so the personal experiences we shared there were not as many so they could actually sit through and read comments under the videos.

Mark has got to be the nicest most genuine content creator in the world.

Markiplier proves that there are still some good people in this world
It reminds me of playing old multiplayer games. With such a small player base, you recognise people, you might send messages to them, even have a couple inside jokes. It puts a face behind that soulless stream of letters and numbers called a gamertag and makes the person feel real. However, that same connection doesn't translate to larger games. That is the sad reality of it. Mark has gotten so big that its just not possible for him to create connections with all his fans. That sucks cause you know he wants too. You can clearly see he wants to have a bond with them because without them his channel wouldnt have blown up. Theres so many other youtubers out there who got big and they have that my life is so much better mentality when Mark makes it a point to always acknowledge the people who made his channel so big and he does the best he can to have a connection with them

Being able to take a step back and realize that is the most wholesome thing and I’m sure that his viewers appreciated it
He has the sweetest heart ❤ . I wanna cry now ,lol.
The original was from the 8 million fan video reaction, 7 years later Mark nearly has 5 times that amount and still appriciates his fans so much for getting him where he is now. The fact he gets so emotional is proof this man's massive heart.
He’s so genuine. No filter, and he’s a selfless man. We love him 🫶🏽
He's genuinely a good boy
Even when he’s damn near a cartoon caricature in his videos with how goofy and hilarious he is, Markiplier is so damn real of a person, and I love that about him
Found Mark in one of the darkest and deepest states of depression and I went home from work looking forward to watching his videos and laughing. Even with the abuse I was facing, I would get up on weekends my child was visiting his father and was excited to fill my days watching him and having fun. I cam literally fall alseep to his voice because it reminds me of the peace and comfort I found. Now my son loves watching him with me

That’s so unbelievably sweet. He also helped me get through my deepest depression. Like I had so little to look forward too in life, but I at least knew if I didn’t keep on living, I wouldn’t get to see more Mark videos, it was that bad. I’m so much better now and I’ll always have a spot for Mark in my heart because he saved me ❤
Mark is one of the most real people ever
Dude mark is just the sweetest person on the planet He is one of the most sweetest people on this earth and he is a global treasure to this planet we must protect this man at all cost He’s too sweet we can’t let him evaporate 😭

I know it's subjective but he's like THE let's player imo. He's always been funny and entertaining while also being wholesome and heartfelt and authentic. He and Jacksepticeye both. Sadly I don't personally find much interest in his content nowadays, like another comment mentioned, he seems like he's not as passionate about gaming anymore. But his videos from the past decade will be true history for a large chunk of the internet
Even though he cannot have that personal connection, he really does make his fans feel so appreciated. The joy that he puts in all his work feels like a big hug.
Marks heart is so big he dreads not being able to return his love to the fans , that’s so sweet 🥹
It’s not discussed enough how lucky everyone who knows mark personally really is, he’s a sweet, charming, and genuinely great human being, Amy and the guys truly hit the jackpot with him
This man had a good reason to cry that day.
I knew that was the reason without him saying it, and it breaks my heart too. To know that he wants to meet every single one of us but there's just too many of us. :(
This is why I look up to someone like Mark. He actually cares and knows what is happening around him
I find that most humble of Mark. Most people when they blow up big they think they're now above bigger than their roots where they started. Some push that away all together. Mark embraced it and still tried his best to stay connected with the fans.
Man this is deep... I guess you just need true friends that treat you the same way even if you're huge.
dude he’s just genuinely such a nice guy
Flashback to that one event in which due to time Markiplier had to speedrun taking selfies with his fans on a circle. So yeah, even before the 10M Markiplier struggled into allowing every viewer to have their moment with him. Gotta say, it was kinda breathtaking to see Markiplier running in circles around a crowd making funny faces with every one of them. That happened so long ago i may have the date wrong, but i believe it happened during the 2017.
I’m not crying, Mark is.. 🧡😭
Man that was like half a decade ago...?! People forgot his reasoning... Mark as he is is a *True influencer* and role model to the people. That moment was his immediate reaction when he quietly realized the he could never create meaningful connections with people the same again in his position. Love the man, I hope the best for the kind soul.
Two KZread classics in the same room
We don't deserve someone as wholesome and humble as Mark.
Either way he will always have a connection with his fans even if he doesn't meet them. He truly helps me through my hardest times just by watching him and that's the most but beautiful part
"admits why" like it was a secret lol. Mark has always been very open and genuine about how he feels about his audience and fame and the platform etc. Ig people who are less familiar with him don't know that

@bengrogan9710
Жыл бұрын
Only a select few could have that and that broke his heart.

the ONLY other man i know of who loves people as much as mark does is mr rogers. he sent HAND WRITTEN letters to every last person who messaged him. not a single person has ever NOT gotten a letter back written BY HAND... mr rogers is probably the nicest being to ever live but mark is a close second... mr rogers, mark, keanu, bob ross... if all these people had met each other in 1 room it would be the most wholesome thing to ever exist... not 1 of them would be rude or hateful to any of the others in any POSSIBLE way... and the rest of humanity should strive to be more like them... the only one i can see possibly not enjoying that time would be keanu and thats ONLY because he enjoys his privacy and we should respect that... every last one of those guys are nicer then any human being you could ever meet... but mr rogers is obviously number 1... he couldnt bring himself to hate anybody for any reason... the only time he has ever been made at anything was when he was made a huge company used his image to sell there shit to children and he HATED that... i would love if they made a story about mr rogers life other then mr rogers neighborhood

Oh that's why Mark really takes the extra mile to meet with his fans when he's in person, like the time at that one convention where he told everyone to get ready and cause he's gonna go around and take quick pictures
The fact that he’s still so emotionally connected to his roots is why I love Mark as a KZreadr. He never forgets where he came from, and strives to stay human despite his success.
If I was as successful as Markiplier, I wouldn’t mind having no personal connections
