I have the St. Joseph Missals, the Sunday & 2 for weekdays. I usually put the ribbons on the Sundays or Feast days, Special Days, and Eucharistic Prayers.

Been using mine since 2020. The way I use it is: RED marker: for the Lenten season; PURPLE marker: for Advent/Christmas; WHITE marker: Easter season; GREEN marker: ordinary time; BLUE marker the section in the back for Devotions and prayers; GOLD marker: I use for Holy Days of Obligation. I use my Missal for the readings and not necessarily the Mass parts, but that's just my personal choice.

I am glad you wear the veil to church. I too wear the veil sadly after Vatican Council 2 people have forgotten 1 Corinthians 11/12

I do love veiling. Veiling is no longer required under Canon Law but is rather a private practice the faithful may follow.

There are Christian groups who wear the veiling all the time, not just for Sunday services. The Bible says women are to pray with their heads covered and to be ready to pray at any time, so instead of fumbling about for a veil if we want to pray on the spur of the moment, we are veiled all day. What a blessing!

I bought the missal last year at the gift shop at EWTN after mass. I had no idea how to set the ribbons so I placed them how I use the missal. White is the current day we are on. Red for the Gloria. Yellow for the creed. Green for the proper of saints. Blue for the commons. I use tabs to mark the readings for saint feast days. I also use tabs to mark the stations of the cross and Angelus. I have the same daily missal. My ribbons set like this: White - Proper of Seasons; Gold - Triduum; Red - beginning of the Order of Mass; Burgundy - Ordinary Time; Green - Proper of Saints; Blue - Anima Christi prayer. I also have a travel/study Roman Missal that I use for liturgical prep. I am our parish sacristan and one of my Pastor's liturgical advisers. I have the ribbons in that Missal set the same way we have them set in our Altar Missal. Great video!

Thank you Amanda for posting this. I am a returning Catholic after 30 years away, and going to Mass, I was puzzled and frustrated trying to figure out the paper missals in the pews as the Mass was being performed. I purchased the St Joseph Sunday Missal last week, so i could take the time to figure out what is going on, but not in real time! It is fine for Sunday, but I really want to have the entirety of all masses available to follow, as well as the accompanying Latin. Although it is a bit pricey compared to the Sunday Missal, the extra content you displayed here is well worth it, and something I will use the rest of my life.

leaving a comment as you requested: my daily roman missal has a different publisher and edition (our sunday visitor 6th edition) ... i use burgundy for Christmas and Easter seasons, black for mass (usually a preface), green for ordinary time, white for proper of saints, yellow for common masses, and blue for devotions and prayers - this is the order the ribbons sewn into the book binding (i don't like to crisscross ribbons)

I recently purchased the St Paul daily missal and wondered how different is to the Daily Roman Missal? Could you review that?

Hi. Thanks for the video. I just ordered a 2003 copy of this. But I've deduced that it's calendar probably doesn't extend to 2021. I've found out that the year 2010 is exactly the same as the year 2021. The cycle and reading for 2021 were easy to find...but will this method work? (Using prior identical years) I'm wondering if all the other additional entries will be correct? This is my first missal. I think I chose a good one.

Hello ; how is this Missal different from the LOTH ?

Dear Amanda! You dont happen to have the 3 volume zippered St Joseph missal set do you? Or have you seen it? I'm debating getting the big one you have in this video or the 3 volume zipper one but idk what it's like. If it has good prayers in it or good art in it like the one you have in this video does. I cant find any reviews on the 3 volume with zipper. If you know if it's the same as the 3 volume without zipper I'd love to know. I'd like to have a smaller book to lug around but if the art is too modern style or the prayers aren't as good I would want the one you show here.

I'm not sure how relevant this question is, but I did think of it while watching the video. When using a prayer book to recite morning prayers, hours, etc., sometimes one book may be a little different than another. Maybe one book has more psalms to read, for example. Is it an issue which prayer book to use?

I'm not sure it really matters which prayer book one uses. In the Catholic Church, the Liturgy of the Hours (The Divine Office) is a set public prayer of the Church has the exact same text for Morning, Evening, and Night Prayer in the four volume set, the one volume Christian Prayer, and the shorter volume Shorter Christian Prayer.

Nice video. I'm strongly considering ordering this missal now. Are you a member of Opus Dei? Just asking because you said it's pretty awesome that the missal includes the Josemaria Escriva prayer. I'm a cooperator, but will ask for admission into the prelature after this year's March retreat.

Does this book need to be renewed or is it a one time purchase?

Hi I'm trying to understand how to follow my St. Joseph weekday missal. Two years ago I was following quite well the daily mass, but one day I lost track. And literally I have been lost since then. It says it is a Vol. 1 but honestly I just might need another book it says it is from Advent to Pentecost.

Maybe you already know by now but there are 3 in the set. Vol 1, 2, and 3. Vol 1 is Adv to Pent. Vol 2 is Pent to Adv and Vol 3 is Sundays.

Thank you for this. I want to buy a Roman Missal. Does it matter what edition it is? Does it change edition to edition? Older editions are a lot more economical to buy. Thanks.

The translation changed in 2012 (I think) so you’ll want one with the new translation

They are just post-it flags, nothing special really.

Perhaps a foolish question but is this missel compatible with the novus ordo mass ?

This is a missal for the Ordinary Form, not the Extraordinary Form.

I cover the words of Consecration with my priest ordination holy cards. I just think those words and that time is so sacred that only the priest should be reading and saying them since he is acting in persona Christi.

Father Lasance is for the Extraordinary Form, I believe. This Missal appears to be for the Ordinary Form, if I'm not mistaken.

@@Who63 Clarify again, please? The Missal shown in the video is only for the Ordinary Form of the Mass. The Father Lasance Missal is only for the Extraordinary Form of the Mass.

I have a missal for the Extraordinary Form as well. However, the Ordinary Form is more accessible where I am. And, praise the Lord, the Mass is still the Mass.
