Market Bouquet Recipes! What Flowers We Use To Create Our Market Bouquets!
Each year, the majority of the flowers we grow here at Two Sisters Flower Farm- they end up in our market bouquets that we sell either from our farm stand or through our bouquet subscription program.
Over the years, we have created lots and lots of bouquets.
While I am not formally trained in floral design- each year, my confidence in being able to craft and produce beautiful bouquets that I know our customers will love- well, that confidence grows just a little bit.
During the early years, however, I wasn’t quite as confident- and I really stressed over whether or not we would have the right ingredients growing in our garden so that we could create really cohesive looking bouquets.
And after speaking with so many of you, who are looking to begin your own adventure growing + selling cut flowers- I know many of you share that same concern- you worry about growing the right flowers in the right quantities and you really stress over what percentage of your garden should be dedicated to focal flowers verses filler flowers and so on.
And so the purpose of this video today is to hopefully help ease those concerns. I want to share with you some market bouquets that I’m creating today for some of our customers. I’m going to break down the exact recipe and give you a stem count of what’s going into each bouquet.

Glad it was helpful!
Just found you tonight, and have watched a few videos and even subscribed. I was really glad to see with that many stems, that this wasn't a $20 arrangement! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. I'm planning on starting up a primarily dahlia arrangement business, with added cut flowers. I love them so!
Great video! Love how you push through the traffic noise. Wishing you much success! 🌻💛

Binge watching your videos today, LOL. I like the idea actually of coming up with a variety of bouquets, not all the same, it's a personal preference for many of the reasons you stated, mainly being smaller grower. Also, I have found people seem to like the variety at my stand. Great video!!

Thanks so much 😊
I purchased your “Garden Planning Book”. Lots of great information!!! I’m not a flower farmer but I do have several large pollinator oriented flower beds and I do grow my own seedlings under grow lights (I haven’t purchased any seedlings from a green house in 2 years…I even grew regional wildflower perennials from seed this last spring). Your book will definitely help me in 2023!!

Thank you for this video ❤ Are your Kraft paper wraps the 20” ones from A Roo?
I love all your videos! I’ve been binge watching them and getting excited to grow flowers next year. How long do you cut your stems? I see that they are min like 18 inches

Awe thank you! Cheering you on as you begin your flower growing adventure next season:) I do cut my stems pretty long- while I've never measured them exactly, I'd estimate that my stems are likely in that 18-22 inch range :)
I took a chance and ordered those same bouquet sleeves you recommended from aroo

Your flowers are of great quality. My dahlias are somewhat misshapen as are my zinnias.

Beautiful! What is the retail price on these? Where are you located/growing zone?
@twosistersflowerfarm
Жыл бұрын
Awe thanks! We're located in West Michigan and are considered zone 5b/6a :) Price is tricky only because it can vary so much even based on region. Some of these bouquets being on the fuller side would likely bring $25-$30.

Is there a resource guide for learning how to price stems? I know it’s regional… is there a regional wholesale guide for a starting point?
Do you use any conditioner for your blooms?
@twosistersflowerfarm

No we don’t. We harvest into clean water and also aim to get flowers out the door less than 24 hours post-harvest … simple but effective for us 💛
Where do you buy the dahlia tubers from?
@twosistersflowerfarm
Жыл бұрын
A majority of my tubers have come from farms local to me here in Michigan. I love supporting both Hudsonville Dahlia Farm and Summer Dreams Farm- but I’ve also had great luck buying from farms like Swan Island Dahlias and The Farmhouse Flower Farm to name a few 💛
Im curious at the price for a bouquet that size? I have no idea how to price my bouquets.

Price is hard and something that I still struggle with at times! There's so much more that goes into price than just the number of stems in your bouquets- it's about the value that you provide to your customers! Truly that's why Walmart may charge $15 for a pair of jeans- and yet a more high-end brand like Madewell may charge $100+. In reality, both brands are charging for a pair of jeans- yet bc of their perceived value they receive two completely different prices! All that to say, there's no right or wrong way to price your flowers- it all depends on what feels good to you. A bouquet like this I'd likely charge around $25. Hope that helps!
I'm a first year farmer. I can find endless filler by foraging while walking my dogs by the creek
