Mark Weldon and Rachel Glucina address Mediaworks staff, 2015

Комедия

Every year I like to post a little present to you all, that sort of summarises the year that's been.
This often takes the form of a bit of media that hasn't been seen much before. Or in this case, never before, unless you were inside the walls of Mediaworks in 2015.
This was my favourite "Mediaworks Hangout", which was the way Mark Weldon (Mediawork's old CEO, departed this year) internally communicated with all of Mediaworks' staff throughout the country. It was very 1984, and a truly magnificent thing to behold, as every TV in the building was tuned into the important internal broadcast.
Anyway, this particular one was to announce the launch of new gossip site Scout, and introduce gossip queen Rachel Glucina to entire company.
Scout was closed in the middle of this 2016.
I think as we look back on this year, 2016, it's important we remember how Scout all started. Marvel at the intellect, the brains and the power that saw its birth, its life, and its rasping gasps of breath as it died, lying cold in a pile of its old sick.
And, for the first time ever, pretend you were a Mediaworks employee and experience what it was like to gather around the warmth of a TV screen, sharing in that precious moment, watching a Mediaworks Hangout!
Happy 2016,
David.
PS Sorry to international types out there, for which this holds very little relevance at all. May still be enjoyable for anyone that's worked in a news organisation.

People that shouldn't talk or be seen. Being seen. And Talking. Thing of beauty.
