Фильм және анимация

Mark Twain was really good friends with my Great Grandfather. He gave my Grandma Lee a baby doll. I remember she showed it to me when I was about 5 years old.

We used to go up to Angels Camp every spring break and summer to visit my grandparents, and would stop here with them on the way to Columbia State Park and Sonora. It’s amazing how good of condition this cabin is still in. Thanks again for all your videos on the Gold Country, they bring back some great memories. This whole area is so special.

Really enjoyed this video. I visited the cabin over 40 years ago when visiting family in Sonora and Columbia. Brought back some fond memories. I don't recall the fence being there at that time. Nice job on video!

Thanks guy's I really liked this one. Twain was a brilliant humorous writer and hard physical labor was not his thing. I can just imagine him carrying buckets of water from the creek. Here's a quote from him. A mine is a hole in the ground with a liar standing next to it.

Glad they restored it, last time I was there was in the ‘90s and it was barely standing.
Can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone swimming there and crossed that bridge
Ahhh in my neck od the woods again...I have been up to that cabin several times and each time I see something different. I currently live in Ceres so all the Mother Lode places that you have gone to I have been there as well plus my geology class and club take field trips up that way. Thank you for taking us back in history.
Another interesting side bit about CA. history, you're making me want to go out again to visit these points of interest. I would love to have you up here in Plumas co.!!! Lots of gold rush areas.
I remember when my wife and I visited Columbia state park and there was an actor who played Mark Twain roaming the streets he was fantastic! perfect representation of him, my wife took a picture with him and it was like stepping back in time standing in front of the old saloon.

My daughter loved visiting Molly when we would come up there to visit the cabin. Molly was friendly and would sometimes bray to get attention. We were so sad when we made our trek one year and she wasn’t there - only the marker. My daughter had called her “Trotter” as we didn’t know her name was Molly until after she passed.
Both of you never fail to amaze and enlighten me to the local history.

When you mentioned his cabin in one of your earlier videos, I was imagining a much larger cabin, with tours, in a cute little town, etc. This was definitely different than what I had pictured :-) Still pretty neat to see, though. Thanks for the preview, Jeff. I'm still hoping to get up there one day.

Steve, I always look forward to your comments on my videos and always look for yours! SO thanks. Yeah, no wonder Mark Twain was going crazy on Jackass Hill in that tiny cramped cabin in the middle of winter. I'm sure he had plenty of time to think and write above the din of braying and snoring!
Mr. Clemens was certainly a very interesting and well traveled man. Thanks for the tour!

Over the many years here in California I have visited the infamous Cabin getting there is a bit of a climb hence the name given Jackass Hill. First time setting my eye's upon the cabin was back in the middle of 1975 or so but more recently visited the cabin with a Girlfriend from Oregon whom is an avid reader in the more recent 2014 or so after. They really did a nice job rebuilding the cabin because back in the late 1970's you could just walk right in and lay right down making it feel just like Mark Twain and boys were back in the old cabin. Much later the iron fence was added to aid in preserving the historical site which is well and good.
Great sound effects with the donkeys. Wonderful as always and informative. I am about to name Twain the father of fake news. Thank you Jeff and Sarah.

Tuolumne County is loaded with more history besides a replica of a replica cabin where someone stayed a few weeks. Try Murder's gulch or the hanging tree for example. I've lived in Sonora 8 years and I'm told I need to reside here another 32 years to be considered a local.

That cabin is adequate for four men if you think of it as not a home, but a wood tent. They slept there, prepared their morning and evening meals there and worked outside during the day. Is there water nearby? I wonder where they got their supplies, was there a town nearby? Did they travel on horseback? No toilet facilities, probably had a pit toilet outhouse. Plenty of homeless people today would love to have a cabin like that.

The more I learn about Sam Clemens, the less I like him. I never heard that he lost his job as a riverboat captain. He fled to California to avoid the Civil War. It seems that he was also good at writing fictitious articles for newspapers that he worked for. I enjoyed the video Jeff and Sarah. I always like your work.

Sam definitely was not a saint. He was a smart aleck and a very sharp man though.
Ok so the old photos show milled vertical boards but the current reconstruction is partial log slabs giving it that log cabin look.
