Mark Suciu in Stuttgart - Learning German and looking at spots | SOLO
Спорт
We were working on an article with Mark Suciu for our recent issue while by chance it happened that Beirut played their first gig in years in Berlin which Mark did not want to miss out on. That’s why he flew over to Germany and planned to later on go skiing in Switzerland with his friend Ian from Coureur skate shop, who joined him on the trip. In between it fit perfectly to go filming with Torsten Frank and shoot some more photos for the article in Stuttgart. So we also booked a train ticket and spent two days with Mark who unfortunately arrived in town with a fewer and was greated by rain. But in the end it all worked out and we used the rained out day to look for some Lem spots and improve Mark’s German language skills.

The German police, "this is art...". Never in my life have I seen a collection of art peices resemble classic skate features so well lol.
I could watch Suciu talk spots for an hour. No skating required.

I thought i was the only one who still says "zeig mal thorsten". Legendary Lem clip 😂

@@landwirtschaft2116 back then u could buy skatemagazins in germany and everytime there where a 30 min video of german skaters in it. also a video of lem vellemin back when hes was like 14? and there was a clip where he said "zeig mal thorsten" and that was a little meme in the german skateszene :D
Thanks Solo mag. What beautiful city.
"Zeig mal Thorsten" - hat kurz im Herz weh getan. Geile Zeit!
ohjaaa bester mann! Mega Video
Man, Mark really does look unwell, poor bugger. Also, as a librarian I can say that is the cleanest looking library I've ever seen! Nice to hear Mark is a Calvino and Sebald fan too...

@@FlipFIicks The whole first section he just looks under the weather to me compared to other vids I've seen him in. Also seems to be a little laboured breathing when he speaks and is constantly covering his mouth with his hoodie when he gets close to talk to the filmers and crew, like he's got a cold/flu or something and is trying not to spread germs. But who knows, he might've been fine just looked a little less energy than usual to me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So cool seeing Suciu giving directions to the filmer. He's a visionary.
Wow. That was just beautiful ❤
Very very cool video, made my night. Lots of love ❤
Such a cool video. Good job on the editing too ❤
Very interesting to understand a little of Mark's mind, in a city with good spots.

Legendary moment
I lived and worked in Stuttgart for the summer of 1998.
this was rad
what a beautifully skateable city
Quite enjoyed this skate tourism. Didn’t even mind the Beirut this time
I dunno i just love the color and the audio is so pleasing
Learning German isn't so easy. Mark has the accent down though. I've been at it for 5 years and my British accent still comes through a lot. Tolles video, vielen dank.
The "wild Marble" is called Travertin. Its origin used to be in Stuttgart.

Of course Mark loves Calvino. Nice video
This is pretty much how I would have imagined he would live
that first spot looks like a temporary skate park in the middle of a square
8:19 Mark Suciu with a Nikon F2 (?). Anyone got a link to some of his photos if they're posted anywhere?
It looks like a quarterpipe, but you're not allowed to skate it because it's supposed to be art. What was the artist thinking? I don't understand it.
@meindlmeindl6713

That Quaterpipe was a Part of the Concreteform of the ,,Kelchstützen'' from the new controversial Railroadstation Stuttgart 21 which is in Construction since 10 Years. A complete Disaster that costs more than 10 Billion Dollars. Now that Concreteform is called Art.
