    Design is suboptimal, but better as focal s Plastic,led build. Bowers wilkins px8 looks, feel much better. But doesnt Sound as good.

    @@a.wunderland The PX8 McLaren is very nice. Amazing how wireless headphone cans have gotten. I have several headphones/iems and a couple of wireless. I have Mark Levinson equipment so having the 5909 would be nice. My MK stuff isn’t shiny and the red isn’t used so heavily.

    Only way to justify that gigantic box is if that headphone stand is part of the package. Other wireless headphones have much smaller boxes. This one is like 5 boxes.

    For me, Focal is more comfortable, wider. Earcups, less pressure, Sound is great, more wide, but not so Detailer as the Mark levinson. They are clearer, Anc Seems be better, passiv and higher frequencies. Tested both and bowers wilkins px7 s2 /x8. Brought the Marks. Absolutly not perfect, at passiv Mode Switches wont work, only Bluetooth 5.1,not 5.2/or 5.3. Design hmm. Multipoint doesnt work for me. My perfect, B&W : Design and Bluetooth, Sony xm4 :anc, Sound : mark levinson, the only which has ldac and aptx adaptive!

    @@Stiggy771 You can't go wrong with either, personally I like the Focal more for the comfort as I have bigger ears. Sound quality is so well matched its really hard to choose. Though I'd say go with the No. 5909 if you listen mostly to modern /mainstream music, go with the Bathys if you like more "audiophile" stuff.

    How do you compare these to the Bathys? Which one would you take with you if you could only keep one?

  • @GramophoneMD

    @GramophoneMD

    A touch sharper detail in these but better overall balance in the Bathys, and then there is the issue of comfort. The Bathys had the best earcups (for me and my big earlobes at least) I've felt on wireless headphones, and that's a HUGE factor. I'd keep the Bathys personally, but that said the Levinsons are still great, both represent the apex of this market.

    @@Benesyed They sound more natural throughout the entirety of the frequency range, and their EQ actually works pretty well so you add in a little color if you want.

    I own a pair of these. I actually got them open box so it was a discount price. These are my top headphones. Mine are red... Just wish it was glasses friendly like my Focal Bathys. Not sure if your does that or its just me tripping but if i shake my head while off i dont hear anything moving, but when i turn them on and shake my head i hear something moving... Not sure if it does that with you? But outside of that these are some amazing headphones with super great sound quality

  • @GramophoneMD

    They are a very detailed set of cans that is for sure. I haven't noticed that but it could be some artifact of noise canceling created by the sound of the movement itself, and it attempting to process something so close and erratic.

    Are they made by JBL ? And where are they produced?

  • @GramophoneMD

    @GramophoneMD

    Sort of. JBL, Levinson, and many other brands are all sub brands of Harman. I believe they are made in China. However I'd encourage you not to get too hung up on that fact. Some of the name brand stuff coming out of China lately has been stunning. Really its more about who owns, tools, and runs the factory.

    Hello Your, in-ear is really a different animal. Some folks don't like the feel of having traditional over-ear headphones, and like in-ear monitors or earbuds much better. For others, the reverse - and it's very much a personal preference. Chocolate or vanilla?

    @@GramophoneMD i find the Shure 846 design is like in the music and over ear is more like listening to the music. I have the 846. If the Mark isn't such a giant, i would be tempted to waste some cash on it. I do find my Airpod Max disappointing in sound quality. Sigh... not rich enough to have them all.

    I bought the 5909, excellent sound except that the product is full of faults: Crackling when no sound in bluetooth. Problem with sound cutting in aptx HD if the environment is not free of any interference. Headphone head detection function malfunctions, headphones close randomly.If you connect it to two Bluetooth devices, in my case they connect almost at the same time and when the music start, an unpleasant sound occurs and the headphones close. Finally, the headphones are heavy to wear over a long period of time. Customer and tecnical service is not very good. So invest your $1000 on another more successful product!!!!
