I'm blown away by many of his later solo stuff ( Gravedigger's Song, Harbor view Hospital ,THIS) as well as his first records and as good as those album were, he somehow... IMPROVED?! It's ridiculous how he just got better, and better ...and BETTER...

@@guydammit3287 : I was introduced to Mark through his work w/ Soulsavers. Even now, and I do listen to him daily, it's still his work w/ Soulsavers and solo work that I listen to. I haven't heard most of his singing w/ QOTSA and I may have heard a couple of songs by Screaming Trees. As you say, he just kept getting better and better and better.

We '90s Seattle music fans need to pool our money together to pay for an around-the-clock security detail to ensure that Lanegan doesn't share the same fate that too many of his contemporary colleagues met with (First we lost MLB's Andy Wood, then Cobain, followed by A.i.C.'s Staley, and Cornell most-recently -- add The Stig's Mia Zapatta who was the victim of a heinous rape and murder) -- we need Lanegan to stick around for decades to come to keep making his high-caliber music as an antidote to the brainless drivel that passes for popular music these days.

Beautifully put. For better or worse, Lanegan was brutally authentic.. I miss every damn thing about him and rue that deficit of authenticity his absence has left us. Lanegan, living or dead, is without peers.

This is such an awesome and catchy song. I've been listening to it on repeat all day, which hasn't happened since I was a teenager many years ago. Congratulations, Mark Lanegan, this is incredible and I hope your new album gets a lot of recognition, it certainly deserves it. And do come back to Russia with a tour: while your fan base here is not that big, there are many people who like good music. Much love from St. Petersburg

This fucking song is so terribly addictive much like many of the things Mark writes so matter-of-factly about in his outstanding book “Sing Backwards and Weep: A Memoir”... Such a killer track bro, can’t get enough of it or all of the great stories, I’ll place a standing order for plenty more of both!!

“Your life is your life Don’t let it be clubbed into dank submission. Be on the watch. There are ways out. There is a light somewhere. It may not be much light but It beats the darkness. Be on the watch. The gods will offer you chances. Know them. Take them. You can’t beat death but You can beat death in life, sometimes. And the more often you learn to do it, The more light there will be. Your life is your life. Know it while you have it. You are marvelous The gods wait to delight In you.” The Laughing Heart C.Bukowski For you Mark

When he sings the lyrics "you gave me this gift I love you still alone I drift" makes me think he's talking about Kurt Cobain. At that moment he jumps into the water like the nevermind album of the baby. I feel like he's talking about the music industry in this song. I'm probably wrong but Love this song, RIP Mark. Bubblegum, Gutter Twins and Mad Season were my favorites, but he had sooo much it was crazy.
