Arguably the best draft move ever by a franchise.

That draft was pretty stacked _(Jaren Jackson Jr., Mikal Bridges, Jalen Brunson, SGA, Michael Porter Jr., DeAndre Ayton, Anfernee Simons, and a bunch of solid players like Bruce Brown, Wendell Carter, Chimeze Metu, Jarrod Vanderbilt, Donte DiVincenzo and more)_ and the Hawks used the 3rd pick to get one of the 5 best players _(depending on how you feel about Brunson, Bridges, and SGA)_ and another 1st. Good on the Mavs for getting the best player and another member of the top 5 _(Brunson),_ but honestly, the Hawks had the 2nd best draft after Dallas.

The HAWKS getting a extra 1st Round Pick from the MAVS the following year to just two move down to the 5th Pick to Draft Trae Jones wasn't a Bad Trade.

I’m in Atlanta and love Ice Trae (second best player in franchise history with a chance to be first, hall of famer). Give Trae a healthy AD in the post and the balance of power in the East shifts (2nd seed for sure with a chance at the 1). Having said that, these things happen to Atlanta. Remember, some years back, Atlanta took Marvin Williams out of NC over CP3 at a time when Atlanta was desperate for a point guard.

We must not forget that the Sacramento Kings chose Marvin Bagley at 2 because he was from Duke. THAT is considerably worse then anything Atlanta did.

He didn't say the owner overruled the GM. He said the Mavs and Hawks GM were overcomplicating the trade discussion so they got it done, meaning the Hawks GM was trying to make essentially the same deal.

At the time people outside the US thought Luka was the best player in that draft american analyst were idiots at the time.

Pretty sure the Celtics could have traded Jaylen Brown who had high trade value at the time because of getting to the ECF's in his second year and a future first round pick for Luka. I wanted that to happen at the time. Building around Tatum and Luka for years with them taking pressure off of each other and that's a pretty scary pair for the rest of the league to deal with. Brown is good but not great or all time great. He shoots a lot and plays good defense when he cares enough.

Signs Harrison Barnes for a max deal… Doesn’t get the negotiation done to draft Luka, then overpays for Porzingis… AS SOON as Nico Harrison steps in, gets the right guys around Luka. Immediately gets Luka to sign the super max. Nico Harrison has made Donny Nelson look horrible. Nelson did great back when they put the champ mavs team together, no disrespect, but as the game transitioned to this new era, Nico Harrison was the right answer for this team. The fact he is slow helps his mileage with his career, lesser injury coz he dont jump high, he being high IQ negates him being slow.
