Question: does the height of your backswing make a difference in how you bowl in regards to speed, power, or revs or does it matter how high your backswing is? I'm thinking about increasing my backswing a lil higher than what it is now!!!

Is there anywhere to find more information about cutting and combining heels? For example I use the Dexter H1 and H2 exclusively because with any other heels I can’t stop at all and I’m afraid to fall and hurt myself. So on approaches too sticky for the H2 I get into all kinds of trouble.

Which 3 balls should I have in my arsenal? I currently have a night road, iq tour, dv8 hellcat. And a spare ball. Night road works well in game one. I have to adjust or change balls in games 2 and 3. Not much success with the other balls. Are these good options for me? Female, low speed low to medium rev (200-300) league and occasional tournament bowler. Avg 160. Stand between 20 and 30 and line up on 3rd -5th dot.

Hey Mark. Just found your KZread channel today. I'll be brief as possible. I'm 72 years. I'm throwing better now than in 50 years of bowling. Problem is i have no ball speed so when the lanes are dry i struggle. I've never played a line that is up the boards (5 or 10) and i really want to before i stop bowling. I've already tried dropping a pound or two ball weight. Can you recommend a ball and a drilling pattern for me? I got some bad advice form my pro shop that lead me to buy a ball i was told would go long, a burgundy hustle. Turned out be the most hooking ball in my arsenal! Please HELP!! Thanks.

Hi Mark, Odd question, have you ever coaches a 2 handed bowler that still keeps their thumb in the ball if so, do you make the adjustments like a 1 handed bowler or a 2 handed bowler? I only ask as I am a 2 hander that bowls with my thumb in the ball and I sometimes get overwhelmed with information online and am unsure on which tips to take in as some tips work better for 1 handers than 2 handers and vice versa

I keep having thumb problems. I started getting blisters on one side, the pro shop guy adjusted in then i had blisters on the other side. He changed the pitch and gave me an oval insert and now I can't bowl more than a game without the back of my thumb turning blood red and is in a lot of pain. I quit for a few years a came back and told him this and he said the hole was too big and i was squeezing too hard. He gave me a smaller hole and the problem was just worse. It's the only pro shop within an hour from me. Any advice?

Try a fast release thumb tape on back of thumb and use lil slide powder on front of thumb. Keep thumb straight in the ball the whole time.

I had the same problem when I started bowling two months ago. Teaching myself to let the ball roll off my hand instead of tossing it fixed it. And like the other person said, keep your thumb straight, don't bend it. Also, my thumb and fingers are getting bigger (and stronger) quite a bit, so I check the size of my thumb hole weekly and adjust it with a bit of sand paper when necessary. I use switch grips and find it quite easy to make small adjustments myself. Lastly, wet sweaty hands blister faster then dry hands, so keep your hands dry.

I appreciate you answering my question about bringing 5-10 bowling balls for league play. I'm in my late 50's now and still very competitive. I was taught how to bowl from an old school guy when I was a kid. He would always say. If you need to bring more than 5 balls for league play. You can't bowl.

Can you flex your knee at all? If you can flex your knee your trail leg will fold behind you and then the ball will come through you instead of around you.
