So...... Zimmer brought in Gunther to improve his LB play. We can see what he has planned. If the training is focused and the line coaching is targeted, we should be able to get the defense up to speed. DQs defense relied on traits. The scheme was simple. Cover 1 or Cover 3.......but the vulnerability is that they can call their own stunts. So running the ball can get them out of place if they think it's pass. With better coaching and running some different coverages we should always be in games. Everyone we drafted should have a role on year one and be afraid..... Sam Williams could blow up

@@asmodeus1274 Coaching...... Think about this. How many Defensive Linemen improved under Ayden Durde? Neville Gallimore, Chauncey Gholston, Sam Williams, Dorance Armstrong, Mazi , Osa..... Who did you see take a step? Sam Williams was being used as a GUNNER ON SPECIAL TEAMS!!!!!!! Let that sink in. I feel cheated because all of those dudes have talent but they were never coached beyond get upfield. Chauncey could have been a good edge setting early down defensive end and he could pass rush in a different way than D Law and Parsons. But it required development. The advantage of what Dan Quinn does is it lets young players contribute. The disadvantage is that his simple scheme can be beaten with good coaching and average players who are phenomenal athletes only go as far as their traits take them. The thing that I see with Zimmer is that he brought in teachers. We saw the secondary improve because Al Harris is a superb coach. I think we will see the same things with the other positions because Gunther is a teacher for linebackers and a pretty good Def Coordinator in his own right. Greg Ellis won as a player by technique. I'm confident that he will teach technique. Coaching is why I'm confident.

--that option trap play vs. Clemson was the blitzing corner's fault. He was supposed to at the very least make contact with the running back or qb, and whiffed on both, so Liufau was correct reading the down blocks, and had no chance at getting a finger on that runner once he was out the gate. That is going to happen to the best of them. Liufau was filling his run fit, and getting exposed trying to correct what the corner had blown. I doubt the coaches said he over pursued when they looked at the tape.

Liufau was a redshirt junior he only really played two years he was one of the people I was most excited about coming back then he left so we’ll see but I think he’ll sit for a year or two

Definitely a good player he will get better with time but that play the running back scored I think that was more on number 2 then the linebacker u can see him signal to the safety to come down to that spot and the safety over commits

Bloodlines isn’t end all be all, Gronk’s 2 brothers were terrible, and one of them got Romo’s collarbone broken by missing a block

Don't care about his weaknesses as those can be coached...he's very athletic, has a high motor and very aggressive...can't coach those traits and Cowboys needs players that will bring this culture to the team...this is a great LB pick

Ehhhh, he’s ok. Remains to be seen if this team knows how to use him. Hopefully he can do something, because he looks like the only LB we have . They dont know how to use Parsons, Clark is useless, Overshown is injured and has never played a snap. Our defense has no depth, and I doubt two rookie LBs will make a huge difference, especially on this team. Seems like what we’ve had in the past, ie. Parsons. They can’t figure out how to use him, so I doubt it’ll be much difference. At least he’s more physical than Parsons…
