Marisa is 20-year Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer Survivor

Marisa will be a 20-year survivor of stage IV pancreatic cancer this spring. After being told she was medically incurable and untreatable, she took a leave from her job and started researching those who defied the odds and survived. Today Marisa is thriving.
This video series was inspired by Juliette Gimon and made possible through the generous support of the Flora Family Foundation.
With special thanks to all of the survivors who opened their hearts and homes to be part of this special initiative.

Thank you for making this video! Those of us with Pancreatic Cancer need to hear stories like Marisa's when we're first diagnosed, instead of only being exposed to the dismal statistics and prognoses that pop up when you google the disease. I was diagnosed in February 2015 with stage 3/4 pancreatic cancer and in June of that year the surgeon told me that because a distant lymph node was positive for cancer I wasn't eligible for the Whipple surgery (and therefore stage 4). A friend told me about the Ottawa Integrative Cancer Centre where they specialize in evidence based complementary and alternative approaches to treating cancer. I came across the book "Radical Remission" while there and it gave me hope that a life longer than my two year prognosis was possible. I'm still here 5 years later and after a bit of a rollercoaster ride there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. Even though my tumour is wrapped around my Mesenteric there's now a possibility I can have the Nano Knife procedure. If it works the way we hope and shrinks the tumour away from the artery, I'm hoping surgery will finally be possible. I'm lucky enough that the cancer is still only at the head of the pancreas and lymph nodes and has not spread to any other organs or bones so , hopefully I'll be cancer free. If not, I'm hoping that I can stay stable like I have been, and continue with chemotherapy for the rest of my life. One day I hope Pancreatic Cancer will become a manageable illness like diabetes. Thank you for posting stories of hope like this, I was told there were no 10 year survival statistics for metastatic PC patients because there weren't enough of us around to keep statistics on.

These are inspirational and hopegiving stats. my aunt was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and battling since an year. Earlier it was to the lymph nodes and the head, she underwent 8cycles of chemo, 3DCRT radiation for 28days. Despite all these, as on date it has reached liver unfortunately and we were told she might have to be with palliative care from now on 😣 I'm deeply depressed. Need help and guidance, we are from India and we don't have much clinical trial options 😣

Turn to Jesus He loves you very much, He is the God of miracles, i was ill for a long time, but the doctors couldn't really help me, i don't blame them there was only so much that they could of done for me, Then Jesus gave me a miracle and healed me, God has done amazing things in my life and in the life's of people i know and love, He can do the same for you and yours, When you need Him call on Him, The bible tells us in Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, He is the God of comfort and will be there for you when you call on Him, God saved someone i love from an illness leading to death, There is nothing impossible to God, Its as simple as accepting Jesus, and Trusting Him for your Salvation, He is the healer of the body and Saviour of our souls, And if you truly seek Him Jesus will answer you, i know this because He answered me when i called out to Him, Take care

I am a stage 4 pancan patient on chemo (with metastatic liver, encasing left renal vein, partial left renal artery, left adrenal gland ) . Please please tell me what age were you when diagnosed. What organs in your case it was spread to. They say if it is spread to lymph nodes, it can come back. Did you have anything like that? was it completely cured? How long did you have chemo? did you have radiation also? Was there any surgery involved? About the diet I like to hear what you did. Thank you so much
