I feel so ashamed to say this but when I saw the first trailer for this game, I thought it was a Yoshi Island game or a Mario Run on switch 😅 If Mario Run was to come to switch, I would see it like the Free Pokemon games or Kirby Clash.

The Jet Badge is clearly going to be a, big, PART of Speedruns, but "Jet Badge always equipped" is going to be challenge run fodder, not speed run fodder. Some of this showcase made it seem like there are levels where not equipping the badge would be a bit faster.

@@Volvagia1927 For the first couple of levels of each world would benefit from it, since they're usually linear. Castles, Auto and platforming is not a good idea to have them.

I was worried that the badges would trivialise the game so much that I'd feel guilty about using them. This definitely seems like it's not the case, if anything it looks like they're just going to make the game massively replayable and incredibly dumb in the best possible way.

No multiple paths is sort of true, there's still some momentum, and these badges do add a ton of replay value.

The music in that ice stage is so good!

A thing in mario wonder, the badges sometimes imitate the abilities of different characters, like high jump luigi and so on. The Jet Run badge seems like it was made for nabbit, like what did you do in mario bros u? yeah, you chased nabbit across a level, where he was pretty quick on his feet.

I gotta agree. It's too distinct and repetitive. Maybe it's a bit too loud. It's hard to ignore. Perhaps it'll get easier to forget it once you actually play the game? I hope we can modify or remove the sound in the options, but I guess we're stuck with it!

I love how Skedaddlers are just the Flower Kingdom version of Birdo. It's so awesome. I also love how anytime they do a Mario game that takes place in a different place than the Mushroom Kingdom, there's like a 50% chance we're going to see different versions of familiar enemies that match the theme. The Mario and Luigi games did it (Beanish enemies, inside Bowsers body, the Shroombs...), Sunshine did it, Galaxy did it, the original Mario Land did it... It doesn't always happen (3D World and Odyssey didn't really do it), but when it does it's like a chef's kiss 😚🤌🤌 I love it so much

Coyote time is a game dev term used by the entire Industry for decades every game that lets you jump has coyote time coyote time is a thing game design classes teach very early on as it’s a fundamental while it’s a fun name Mario didn’t create the term

Leave it to a post game bonus stage to REALLY put the badge to the test. I’m sure a small few will make it but the rest of us well…

If the latter's the case, I guess there'll be a day one 1.0.1 patch, or at least I assume the patch version on the press preview copies is 1.0.0. However, I'm thinking that it was intentional as, according to the Nintendo Direct presentation, badges (abilities) can be unequipped at any time in the hub world, just not while on a course (level).

There’s a video from a channel named Gamexplain. If you want the vid I can post it but in summary. We see the world 1 map and it has 20 levels. Some of them are smaller levels but still. If we estimate 20 levels in each world, it already 120. But we know that each world will have a few more courses than the last so the actual number might be even higher

Each world has tons of levels even if most of them are short 1 minute challenges and not really traditional levels the game has more than enough content

I don’t think this badge was made for speedruns because you can’t stop running you wouldn’t be able to do precise jumps and glitches while I think it would be good for the race game mode when speed running it would probably just slow you down Nintendo is not the company to acknowledge speed runners they would probably sue them if they could
