The difference is between night and day, which is understandable considering the success of the first game allowed a bigger team on the second game.

10:05 there is only one exception to that rule though, Rabbid Mario, thanks to his skill tree, will still be able to move even after attacking, probaby due to the risks of him being stuck in the open just because of him being short-ranged

Actually, there's a second. Mario's Air Shot upgrade lets him fire his weapon in mid-air, and his movement won't be locked afterwards, not even after landing.

This is correct, and I think it helps to show why only Rabbid Mario can do this, (besides the mentioned Mario shooting from mid-air) because Rabbid Mario is borderline broken. Rabbid Mario with that ability, along with Ethering and Glitter can cause him to pull every enemy into a group, beat them all down with his fists, then run away, and then go invisible that turn or the next. If they could all shoot and run, the challenge would be non existent. I LOVE how broken Rabbid Mario can be lol

10:55 the currency is indeed new to the m&r series but star bits were a staple of the mario galaxy games, in fact feeding sparks is very much lifted from feeding lumas, which these seem to be based off of

thats because Sparks are quite literally Rabbid Lumas. But Sparks is a better name and its more fun to say.

Hopefully this dlc will be a sign that Rayman will be getting his own 3D game soon

I like the first one Kingdom Battle. Its simplicity, look, topic and the grid system. Only the camera roation of fixed 90 degrees was a pain and not really necessary. No grid is not automatically an improvement. It's just different. Anyway, I think I wait for a sale for Sparks of Hope. ...

I like almost everything about Sparks of Hope. Great that you aren't tied down to Mario, for instance.

i actually love sparks of hope but i do miss the kongs and yoshi tho

Donkey Kong, Rabbid Cranky, and Rabbid Yoshi are my top 3 followed closely by Rabbid Luigi and Luigi. If it had been possible I would have loved to play as Rabbid Yoshi or Rabbid Luigi in the DK Adventure

The thing I like about the new game is the amount of enemies and how some of them can have different versions.For example, the wildclaw in beacon beach chases the opponent while the wildclaws in pristine peek don't chase but instead have a area frosty attack

My headcannon on why the rabbid versions of mario, Luigi, and peach is that they've been in the mushroom kingdom for so long that they learned how to kind of talk but they still say "Bwah" like Rabbid mario saying "Ey! Bwahma-Mia!" In one of the cutscenes but it's just my headcannon because the rest of the rabbid characters in the game can talk to

One of the lore pieces you can find explains that Beep-O made a translation device so that everyone can understand the Rabbids. He regrets this decision to this day. XD

I miss Yoshi on Mario Rabbids I love Both of this game and the Donkey Kong dlc

It’s the only game I go back to and look up walk through when I’m lost. I’ve been trying to be bk+do for over 2 years now 😂

The scopers do not teleport, but they can climb surfaces up, like DK did.

I just got sparks of hope and I'm disappointed. I preferred the old grid based movement system in the first one. It felt more puzzle like and required more planning. I also preferred the more linear story and map. Not every game needs to be open world with side quests. I loved the original, and I'm not even sure I'm going to bother finishing this one. I just finished world two and I'm already bored.

I fully agree with you. And what I don't like that the Battle is not on the same map. It feels like a cheap rpg game to me.

However, dan203 said he didn’t like that it doesn’t have a grid anymore? I didn’t watch the whole video yet so I haven’t seen them cover that, but sometimes not having a grid can make for an awesome tactical game, like gears tactics. I really loved gears tactics it was amazing in my opinion. Someone mentioned that you can’t change your weapons in sparks? Just the skins? All in all, do you think I should just play the first game if I’m going to pick one ? Sorry to ask when it’s a video that compares the two- but I don’t have time to get through this whole video at the moment, but also I prefer to talk to people about these sort of things rather than just watch a video

One other thing. I actually preferred Rabbid Luigis old clothes but I mean the new ones work too

The combat is not as good as KB. Its still great, but I couldn't help but miss the more cinematic combat of the original

I agree, seeing your moves play out in a quick cinematic way in kingdom was pretty cool, but the customization of your sparks, and skill tree helps, and other gameplay mechanics with combat have definitely improved.

Sparks of Hope was still so fun. I liked the freedom of it compared to Kingdom Battle

kingdom battle is better for me. more memorable combat encounters, more difficult, seemingly better AI

Being able to move the characters multiple times during a battle turn, as well as moving after a Team Jump, is a true game changer. However, the fact that we don't have different equitable weapons anymore, just weapon skins, feels a little weird.

@ham burber Sparks achieve the same effect but with more flexibility , as you can fine tune your character setups for each battle while still using any weapon skin you want...

Im really enjoying Sparks of Hope but I think Kingdom Battle is slightly better because I prefer the grid base battle system, the weapons get stronger not just skins and the gold to bronze ranking

​@therandomguy2212 The weapons in Sparks of Hope don't have any stats buffs or weaponary effects though. There just re-skins to change the design of your weapon rather than given it's power ups.

It's really hard for me to pick which one I prefer. I think SoH has the slight edge for me due to it feeling more like a proper RPG with a solid story, memorable characters, beautifully-crafted worlds, and plentiful overworld puzzles. Not to mention, its vast customizability, unique primary weapons for each character, more developed skill trees, and simply more characters in general gives SoH even more lasting power for me. Plus, its DLC felt more substantial than KB's. However, KB does have that traditional tactical RPG gameplay that I love so much, and it definitely had better performance and difficulty balancing, providing better overall combat gameplay. It also has a good multiplayer system and fun challenges beyond the main story. Still, SoH's combat and difficulty are really good in their own right (especially towards the end of Pristine Peaks going forward) while KB's world design and exploration felt a bit flat and linear. TL;DR: Sparks of Hope is a 9/10 while Kingdom Battle is an 8.5/10 for me. Both have their own strengths, but Sparks just felt like a more complete package despite some of its combat-related shortcomings.

Kingdom battle was 1 million times better for me the gameplay, the grid everything. If they do, it would’ve just made slight enhancements. This could’ve been one of the second best games on the planet sparks of Hope is way too clunky and hard to figure out sparks of Hope is just less enjoyable. For me.

I thought it was just me…glad I wasn’t crazy. Kingdom Battle graphics seem more textured, dynamic in lighting and shadows, and more cinematic than this one. It threw me off. It was really obvious to me seeing the first worlds’s water it is a lot more cartoony compared to kingdom battles water.

Perhaps they had no choice but to dampen the visual fidelity due to the larger scale they went for, but the downgrade is still striking, so much so that I can't help thinking they didn't make an endeavour in optimization. The first one also had better art style which is really adorable.

Ngl I feel like Spark of Hope somehow looks more popping and less blurry than the first game, which makes me wonder if they used an upscaler for it or not

Honestly when I hear about the sequel for this game I got hopes a bit up then I saw the game and raised them more Then it lived up to the hype so honestly I enjoy this awesome game

Hello. Was just wondering if you're were gonna do Plague Tale Innocence vs Requiem?

In all honesty, after 100% Sparks of Hope on the hardest difficulty, I probably have to say that Kingdom Battle is better (take it with a grain of salt). Most of my problems with the sequel are just simple nitpicks such as the rabbids actually speaking, the non-grid battle system, no secondary weapons, and not very interesting enemy varieties (again this one can be taken with a grain of salt, but the addition of Mario related enemies gets a pass). I also missed how they did the splash screens when introducing a new enemy or boss battle and some of the fights were clunky as all hell and had way too many enemy spawn (once again salt grain I was playing on the hardest difficulty). But by all means, I really enjoyed the story and the addition of new playable characters, Rabbid Rosalina probably being my absolute favorite, lastly, we luckily have some DLC in the future which will keep me playing.

I agree. I also prefer the linear world approach that Kingdom Battle has where u go from Point A to Point B, but there's also branches for exploration that u can go for goodies, shortcuts or back to the areas u visited. I do appreciated the open freedom Sparks of Hope has. But I felt like it was an little bit too spacies and sometimes your progression on where u need to go can be annoying. Yeah. There are checkpoint flags u can warp through. But even that can mess up your navigation sometimes. Not to mentioned the worlds in Kingdom Battle looked way better than Sparks of Hope. Not to say any worlds in Sparks of Hope are bad. There good. I just think Kingdom Battle world handled there variety better.

Rabbid Luigi should have kept his dress

Kingdom Battle was SO MUCH BETTER, in absolutely every way possible. Its actually amazing.

Except rabbid Mario (without the boot item). He can move after use his fist but you unlock it by use some skill points.

I really like both of these games. But I kinda prefer Kingdom Battle more. I liked the linear world approach, there battle systems, grid system & other gameplay department there than as to what Spark of Hope has. Not to say I disliked any from Sparks of Hope. I just think Kingdom Battle does an better job.

The new combat in sparks of hope ruined the whole game for me. The grid based system was way more tactical and satisfying. The dlc of the first game was a little harder and made it more fun to find ways and pull it off.

I really love a lot of things about sparks of hope. some things... not so much though. like... the voice acting... the bwahs were amazing and ik that rabbids have voices now but its just not as... goofy. gives off a different vibe. plus it ruins phantoms original thing. he was the only rabbid that could really speak and they used that amazingly. i also dunno how i feel about the lack of the yoshis. although they werent good in the first game, just having them wouldve been great. especially with the weapon skins now in the game. although i do love bowser, edge, and rabbid rosalina i will be missing my goofy rabbid yoshi, and yoshi my favorite. but one thing is for sure. i love rabbid luigis new design. the overalls are really good on him.

3:55 I don't agree with these two statements. Mario's range was Mid and Close range, so his role wasn't the close range character, more the generic All-Rounder who _can_ go into close range. Close range was _always_ Rabbid Mario's specialty with his Short Range Shotgun and way stronger hammer and Magnet Dance (which was pretty terrible, especially when you look at DK's magnet in the same game)

It's almost like nintendo knows we want super Mario Galaxy 3

Already played sparks of hope years after kingdom battle. And of course, I would have to see this new game with dlcs to give a full review, but even so, at the moment I find Kingdom Battle more complex and way more enjoyable than this 2nd one. I ended this last game after getting done every side quest and what I found, is a empty game after a boss fight that was awfully easy even at max difficulty. I feel disappointed and I hope that the dlcs make justice. Otherwise, I would be mad.

I can tell this is satire because of the grammar... Actually never mind...

The only thing i dislike aboyt the seaquel is no multiplayer and bossfisghts dont feel as intense curse bossfight was lit though they neef to make it more like kb the movemnt system skill tree and sparks features are nice and i like the story feeling more grahphical but i font like the voices now

I disagree, I thoroughly enjoyed the battles, grid system, and customization options. Kingdom battle appears to focus more on the battles while sparks of hope seems to be about exploration

So I need to play more but the game seems so different. I like the combat in the first one more. Buuuut its still fun. I miss my rabbid yoshi. He was my favorite in the base game paired with rabbid luigi and luigi. Plus the Donkey Kong adventure expansion is still my favorite mario and rabbids content, Rabbid Cranky was amazing. And the expansion was one of the best donkey Kong games ever. I'd say right up with the likes of the DKC series, DK64, Subspace Emmisary, and even his representation in Punch Out Wii

Sparks of hope is better

I personally think that the only significant improvement that Sparks of Hope made was in the combat gameplay. Everything was made kinda worse. But that one thing was still made so much better that it's leaps and bounds better than Kingdom Battle.

the best thing about this game is that you can turn off the vulnerability, just go to options and hit customize, you can now take no damage from enemies, kingdom battle was the WORSE GAME for me, the battles were way too hard, even on easy mode with the health, the puzzles were super confusing without a guide, the movement felt very limited, plus full voice acting for beep o and jeanie, honestly sparks of hope is much better then kingdom battle gameplay wise.

It appears to Me that sparks of hope is more rpg beginner friendly than kingdom battle. Kingdom battle had WAY better fights, but sparks of hope has better everything else
