Nick's luck is like a double dice. Absurdly high highs, but it's wildly inconsistent, completely unreliable, and can screw him over by going too high.

I'm not entirely convinced the game didn't glitch. I've never seen anyone get a star with bonus stars off, nor have I ever seen someone get a star in first. Nick's luck was so great, it broke the rules of the game for him to lose.

@@Endershock1678 I haven't played Mario Party in over a decade but perhaps the rule isn't that 1st place can't get a star but rather the person with the most stars can't get one. Since 1st place (Nick) had as many stars as Brent, he technically wasn't 1st place by a margin large enough that would warrant being excluded. From a competitive perspective it would be unfair if Nick was excluded from a bonus star for being 1st place by 10 coins and Brent in this case wouldn't be even if he has the same number of stars, so it makes sense that 1st place can still get a star from a hidden block if he got the same number of stars as 2nd place.

​@@LewtableI mean, technically the "first place star" thing was always a myth. I have personal experience of a friend who got a star off a Hidden Block in first place twice in the same game. It's just unlikely. What I imagine is that, like Mario Kart Wii's item roulette, there's a picker for the likelihood of each possible result a Hidden Block can possibly give (any number from 4 to 20 coins, and a Star). All 18 options are present in every Hidden Block, but your placement, and your distance from the rest of the pack, determines the percentage of each possible result. There's technically a nonzero chance of each result, because of how picker selection works, but the undesirable results can just be cranked so low as to be essentially impossible. That, or NDCube really did use Hudson's bag of tricks. Originally, Hudson put 2 Hidden Blocks on the board every turn, in random Blue Spaces (one containing a Star, and one containing coins). Getting one would spin that randomizer again, making it potentially possible for all four players to get the exact same Hidden Block on the exact same turn. Since the contents of each block were predetermined, your placement literally did not matter. However, later on, the Star Hidden Block is programmed to sometimes give out an item instead of a Star, if the player who found it is in first. However, it doesn't overwrite the Star, it just adds an extra layer of RNG.

These one is amazing!! The changing allies, the schemes, the betrayals, the tean work, all of it! Teams do bring a new dynamic to Mario Party!

Interesting alternative way to do this: At the end of every turn, all players who are tied with another player get 1 "point". Keep score until the end, and whoever has the most points wins. Optional: At the end of the game, the player in 1st place gets 2 additional points. Also optional: At the end of the game, each player's star count is added to their score.

This and the Clockwork Castle game are probably tied (lol) for the two best games of Mario Party you've ever done. So many different twists and turns, and both with massive plot twist endings.

Tip: when you use a warp block and another player is at sight, you will always swap with that player
