I love how weird time is for you in this run. As a speed runner you obviously already know how to playthrough the game super fast and usually coins are seen as something completely useless and that no one in their right mind would go for them in speed runs. But now coins are so valuable and the run completely changes course because of it. Very enjoyable to watch

I mean, you’d need to work out the routing manually, and then could just use math to see how high the depletion could be Just most coin per second routing whilst progressing and sticking to the rules (such as no revisiting for coin grinding)

As with many other things, we can overcome psychological hurdles like sunk cost by reframing. He didn't re-do it from the beginning. The challenge just required failing once first. A "new game+" if you like. Fear and despair in the face of failure can also be conquered with immersive therapy. Failing 500 times takes the sting out of it. SmallAnt has probably failed 10x that in getting this good.

Mario is me as a student, trying to complete my degrees ASAP before I am completely drained from the accumulated debts and expenses.

"From the top... This attempt is gonna be pretty much the same as the last one except I don't make any mistakes." *jumps ahead 2 hours and 20 minutes*

He tried 1 coin/second and asked bryce_____ to make both a 2 coins/second and a 3 coins/second because he thought it was too easy. The mods were done in about 5 minutes, because it's basically just a change on the value of 1 variable. Ant had to reset for the first time at the Seaside Boss because he made a mistake. Then, he tried the 2 coins one, realized it was impossible and asked Bryce_____ to make this 1.5 one

To be fair, it would have been easy (edit: for him) if he had done 1 coin per second instead of 1.5 coins per second. Using his final time (I know some extra time was added for scenes and areas where coins didn't count down, but I'm not going to go watch the full VoD for those) he lost 23,575.5 coins in his run. That is 7858.5 coins more than if it was 1 coin/second. Would have given him an extra 2h10m to complete the run.

16:08 Or a "cranked" mode. A lot of games do this mode where you rush against the timer but doing X gives you more time. Driving games give you rings/objects to hit, FPS games is with kills, etc. "Coin_Cranked%" (CC%) should be a thing. It gives a whole new optimisation method to the game.

In all seriousness, I think it happened because a game over occurred after the finish line, and the game had no clue how to handle that.

Love how Smallant had to make a loophole in his OWN rules to beat the challenge

So then, technically his title isn’t a lie because by original rules losing 1 coin a second is as fast as you can go without failing the challenge, seeing that 2 coins/second is impossible and 1.5 coins/second is impossible, but only found much later through the run.

@@iantaakalla8180 1.5 is hardly impossible. If he hadn't messed up even one or two of the jumps in Luncheon that he did, he would have succeeded in his first attempt. The sub-area rule is also one he added himself, and is not part of the original challenge.

Yeah, I was there live and I got kinda bummed that he had to resort to that, but I mean, he proved that if he didn't make one or two mistakes, he would have had it in that second try

31:47 when you complete a big assignment but then realize you have a 10 page essay due in 2 hours

So true about the your titles they stand out for that reason. One suggestion would be to use tags/playlists like I was trying to find more race videos and it was hard since not every Race vid had race in the title.
