I dunno, it would of been nice. Hopefully in Mario Kart 9, it'll come back. If Nintendo added unlockable characters and Mission Mode for Mario Kart 64, then it probably would of gotten a better score than Crash Team Racing

My theory is that mission mode was added to make up for the multiplayer. Because Mario Kart DS is only one player per system, there was no couch multiplayer option like in the other Mario Karts. That combined with the lack of online connectivity meant you could only race with other people if they to had a DS. So they added more single player options like the mission mode, to remedy the difficult multiplayer.

man this game was what brought the modern mario kart. the inclusion of mission mode and specially 3d remix of prvious tracks was amazing.

This was my favorite part of Mario kart DS back in the day. It’s a good way to test yourself.

Seriously, why haven't they brought back this mode? The assets are already there so it would be relatively easy to do it for Mario Kart 8 DLC, and it adds a lot of fun replay value.

They brought it back in Mario Kart Wii, but it's called "Tournament". And, it requires Wi-Fi, and only lasts for a limited time :/

Those are some mad skills you have! Wish I had a kart emoji to show some love. Honestly, this was my favorite handheld *Mario Kart* game. I used to play hours with my cousin in battle mode. She hadn't played since *Mario Kart 64* but she caught on quick!

It actually couldn't be hard just by following King Boo. Process: *Collect all the coins you can before King Boo gets you *Once King Boo has you coins, follow him *And once you get back your coins, just repeat the process

@@amazingamer360 Its pretty difficult to get three stars. You need to hit King Boo right after he steals your coins, which can be tricky. Otherwise it takes too much time. Its definitely one of most difficult missions in the game.

The Wiggler mission always pissed me the hell off. I have no idea how you did that so well.

Level 7 missions: 1. Perform 6 super mini turbos within one lap! 2. Reach the finish before Bowser does! 3. Complete 2 laps within the time limit! 4. Use shells to defeat all 30 Goombas! 5. Collect all 20 coins! 6. Drove through 8 numbered gates in order! 7. Drove backwards and get 12 coins. If you hit a crate, you fail! 8. Break all 10 item boxes without touching the fake item boxes! Boss: Reach the finish before Wiggler does!

All the tracks in this game were AMAZING!

I saw a previous comment on this, about how easy it is. It's really funny to come back to a game we played as a kid and be like "wow this is so easy, how was I so bad back then?", but back then we were like 4-8 and didn't understand what we were doing

Just 100% this game, 3 stars on all missions as well as gold trophies and 3 stars on all cups in each cc, including mirrored! Unlocked all 36 carts for every character, including unlockable ones. Can't do the NWFC stars next to my name, though since no one has this game anymore.

Tbh, this is what MK8 Deluxe should implement as a free update, using the original tracks before Booster as a sort of final update. These scenarios are very interesting when implemented well.

Ahh the coin challenges were the hardest :D

I remember trying to beat chief chilly as a 6 yr old and couldn’t do it so I raged and didn’t go back to this game. So then today I went back and it still took me hours but I got it on 2 stars. I still think it is the hardest boss by far. Also today I looked up how to unlock level 7 so I did and I was tearing up when I beat wiggler due to kinda beating hero mode but mostly nostalgia

I remember being petrified of the hands. They gave 8 yr old me nightmares

The only bosses that were missing was Chill Bully, Big Mr I and Whomp King. That would complete the Super Mario 64 DS bosses on Mario Kart DS.

Honestly the SM64 Bosses are a bit lazy. I'm not gonna be that guy tho. I just think it was odd to use the models because you have them in SM64DS.

Holy shit this game packed a lot of content I never knew there were more than 6 levels of missions.

I recently learned that there was a 7th level. I came back to this game and got 3 star on all the 6 levls. Time for the 7th!

Fucking.... No.... This is bringing Vietnam flashbacks, trying so hard to get the level 7 missions, still feel my battle scars with intense pain on my right thumb from pushing the button so much and the ultimate burning sensation on my left thumb from so many attempts at trying to get that damn mini turbo!

If anyone needs tips for this mode. This guide will be updated. In 6-2, dont quick-start. Youll hit the rocky wrench before the roulette finishes. In 6-8, don't drift immediately, you will be severely behind Peach.

I love how the most replayed segment of the video is Mission 2-3
