Check your head & Ill communication were, looking back a golden moment in time. A pinnacle of ethical music sampling and culture that is sadly missing from today's scene.

So wait, when Mario C. told the anecdote about Chris coming in the studio and saying “Dats a record,” was that one of those casual DAT recordings that ended up getting sampled? It would make sense if that was what the beginning of Root Down starts with! Man this was awesome. Nostalgia x100.

I was in college at the time studying sound recording and as a project I did a mock of Tone Loc wild thing, mocking its simplicity. But I secretly loved it. Had no idea it was Mario C. Then when I found the B Boys just after check your head came out, I loved it to death. Seems like I was attracted to his style. Funny how those connections are behind things and you have no idea.
