it uses the decompiled version of Mario 64. so it isn't just a impressive mod. but also Mario 64 running while running gta. so Mario plays exactly the same as in Mario 64 because it is Mario 64:)

That's because it's running actual Mario 64 code, this mod isn't merely mimicking Mario 64 in GTA, it's full on ported the actual Mario 64 Mario into the game. So everything about how Mario controls in vanilla Mario 64 also applies here, including BLJs.

It actually utilizes a ROM of Super Mario 64 (US version) for the mod to work. Something among the line of a project, which the mod make use of, would allow Mario to drop in to existing game engines with minimal efforts, this even extends to modern games, for example; somebody made a mod for Rocket League, in which allows you to play as Mario, even play a match as him with bots (tho they are still the same in the base game, they're not Marios).

Super Mario 64 2's looking good. Though this is admittedly a fairly big shift in direction I wasn't expecting compared to the first game, but at least the core movement gameplay is the same.

I always came up with the idea of a mod for GTA San Andreas that replaces all the characters and NPCs in characters from the Super Mario Bros. franchise. Something similar with "Goldeneye 007 but with Mario Characters" Excellent mod!. At first I thought it was an invisible CJ mod while you put Mario 64 there in a video editor, but it's actually a mod or rather a voodoo magic of seeing the same entity called Super Mario 64 in other video games as mods.
