Thank you for your service and my dad remembers boot camp.He enlisted in 1973.One was don't let the drill instructor know your name,he was lucky this happened to him.Served 4 years,1973 to 1977

I am very proud to say I am officially a member of the United States Marine Corps.

It is my great honor and privilege to be able to write this post. Lord forgive the sins of the ones alive that must live with the scares that we created in the name of freedom, and hold up those that lost love ones on any line for our right to live. Lord let us never forget and cherish those that gave their lives so we may live, there is no greater sacrifice. Lets us remember all of those on all the battle lines both front and rear, in particular the secret lines or black spaces. There a 10’s of thousands of “Mia’s” from the CIA that put Seal Team 6 in the room with Bin laden. All they gave should never be forgotten, and the MAC-v-SOG operators that where behind enemy lines abandon in Cambodia. Lord also forgive our enemy that died as they to gave their lives for an idea. Lord love my Uncle Larry that fought at the battle of the bulge in WW2, then as a bombardier in the Korean war. Also please change the hearts of those that loved my great Uncle General Robert E Lee, as he now see’s his own flaws and the shame he created. Also give peace and strength to those that are currently doing the right thing trying to save humanity.

Happy two hundreth and forty two years Marines. A little story if I may be so bold. I joined the Corps in 1968. I was an 0311. In viet nam, I served in L co. 3rd Bn, 3rd Regt, 3rd MarDiv. under Capt. C. C. Krulak, (who later would be the Commandant of the Corps). I had an illustrious and adventurous career. Would learn to know thousands of Marines. I retired at 20 yrs, ( Navy regulation required because of steel in my right knee), and as I left, i had apprehension and a little concern as to hoe well would all these young Marines do. I can look back now and relize, those before me may have had the same feelings. Yet as a company gunny in F 2/7, four yrs. I knew i had kickass, hardtack, great fucking Marines. I would then, as I do today say, "I treated my Marines as my sons, and my son as a Marine". I retired 30 yrs . ago, and since then, through magizines, television and an occassional face to face...I have grown to know.. our fucking tough, get the job done Marines are still there and will continue to carry on. God bless each and every one of you. Semper Fi.

Historically, Sept 17, 1969, my unit, dug in, got hit by an overwhelming NVA unit. 18 Marines and Corosman kia, and 46 wounded. There were only 31 of us still standing. 4th Marines, H 2/4 heloed in the next morning to reenfirce us. As we sat on the mountain, we watched these 4th Marines move in a Extremely professional manner, and i remember thinking, Damn these guys are pros.
