I bought one. Replaced everything in the gear case except actual gears and shafts. All seals, bearing, gaskets, impeller etc... I'm still tweaking carbs because it idles rough pops etc BUT! Once she's opened up, she rolls... my 14ft vhull fiberglass pretty much empty i scratched 33mph. I got about $900 in just the outboard, with for 40hp that's a deal in my book. Cash. Not including my time. I couldn't be more pleased. I am running electric start or pull both, I have set up steering & remotes... which was worth every dime and penny. Boats a in need of some make up and structural is a little more flimsy than preferred, particularly over 30mph. That said the propulsion and navi, be jammin'.
