@TheLone14neer Dude that sucks, sorry to hear that. I did notice when touching one at a lfs that they run a bit on the warm side. The regular ones on the other hand produce very minimal heat. So far I've been doing 8hrs/day on a timer for 17 months and no problems thus far.

@jsnoravo Ya ive had my Marineland LED lighting in my tanks with plants for a couple of days and the plants are really loving it. They reach up to the sky lol. I have a 36inch wide tank so i have the 36inch to 48inch lighting size which fills the tank completely with light. So everything looks beautiful, bright and the plants and fish love it. Everyone just looks more natural and relaxing.

@NackRoss yeah i just happen to have glass tops so guess i lucked out, sorry to hear about your light. my friend is running one on an open top tank but it's sitting about 5-6 inches above the tank (quasi mounted to the canopy)

@Anldyxp yea the smaller one would have dark spots...there are some other videos that show the dark spots more clearly

@blazednsleepy To tell you the truth I haven't tried it on a planted tank so I couldn't say. I'm not sure how the watts per gallon rule applies towards led light fixtures. As far as brightness it is great and the shimmer is beautiful in person.

Thanks for the video. This proves that Marineland does not know how to make lights. Look at all of those dark areas!

@nar0070x0 oh man, i think i've had it for 3 years. the crazy part is i'm surprised it grew this big at all b/c all it eats is crumbs that come out of the gills of all my other fish. never was a big eater. i'm not sure if that's just how red tail sharks are. i'm thinking if i had finer substrate and fed sinking pellets it would have a chance at growing bigger since it's not much of a surface eater.

@NackRoss that sucks, how did it happen? hopefully you didn't run it open top. but i guess it doesn't matter at this point.

@jsnoravo my tank is 24" deep so it should work fine, i was concerned about drop off when hitting the bottom of the tank. Will be doing some plant growth but lower light/lower maintenance plants, hopefully that won't be a problem. How do the moon lights look at night? I seen there is a DIY mod to put the moon lights on a seperate switch so you can have both white and blues on seperate timers, that seem to be one of the few gripes with this system.

Hey noticed you posted this exactly one year ago...how are the lights holding up? Same intensity or notice any drop off? Any problems or issues? Thinking of getting a couple of these.
