Marine Security Guards | On Call 24/7

Marine Security Guards serve as the eyes and ears of U.S. embassies and protect Americans in "every clime and place." The mission of the Marine Security Guards is to provide protection to mission personnel and prevent the compromise of national security information and equipment at designated diplomatic and consular facilities. Marine Security Guards will be prepared to execute plans for the protection of the mission and its personnel as directed by the chief of mission or principal officer through the regional security officer.
(U.S. Marine Corps video by Cpl. David Staten)
Special thanks to the Marines in Madrid, Spain, and Tokyo, Japan, and Marine Corps Base Quantico Combat Camera for providing b-roll and interviews.

Grew up as a Diplomats daughter. I thank God every day for the Marines. Not only did they protect us, but they taught me how to defend myself, they taught me discipline, and how to break the rules 😂. Thank you all for your service, you'll never know how much you mean to us!

I was stupid enough to turn down anything overseas. Was young wanted to be close to home. Big, stupid mistake. If you go into the military do what you can to go overseas. Its a great opportunity to learn language, the world, and just become more well rounded.

One of our base boarders was the Arlinton Cemetery and along the same azmuth Fort Myers where we ran- in both venues, and ate at Enlisted mess in Fort Myers. Calling it a mess is a misnomer. They had table cloths flowers and condiments on the tables. They would bring your order to your table! Thanks to whomever burnt down the Marine mess. Semper Fi!

@@javajustice You have to have citizenship. If you gain citizenship you can join. I've also heard of people who gained citizenship because of their service. Talk to a recruiter, but take what he says with a grain of salt recruiters tend to lie or make false promises to get you to sign up, make sure you are signing the right papers.

As Larry said, there is no ASVAB requirement because it's not a primary MOS. You will only ever hold this billet for ~3 years at a time. You can reapply for different positions: MSG as E2-E5, DetComdr as E6-E7, and then you can get Region and Group billets at most ranks - I've seen everything from E3-O6 working at Regions and Group, but those will be kind of restricted based on your MOS and MSG status/history, but each of those billets will also only ever last three years at a time. You COULD go MSG as an E3, pick up E4 or E5 on the program, go back to the fleet for 3-6 years and then reapply as a DetComdr, and then, if you go 1stSgt, you could reapply AGAIN to become a Region 1stSgt, but no matter what, these will only be temporary posts and then you'll return to the fleet.

So what happened then to the US Ambassador to Lybia and the security there? The US Ambassador & Diplomatic Staff were murdered and from what i heard the request for Immediate Assistance was put through NUMEROUS TIMES while the US Embassy was under attack. Why wasn't the Security Threat Group better prepared and why was the request for Immediate Assistance ignored?

The Elite Master there are no commissioned officers at the actual posts. The highest ranking Marine is NCO and they report to a Regional Security Officer who is a civilian. That being said, you may be able to get an instructor position or something similar back at HQ.
