Marine's terrible eating habits & her gastroscopy incident

Ойындар

Just some random gems from Marine's vertical chatting streams. She was probably saved by fubuki honestly because imagine if she just continued eating instant noodles every day with a literal scarred oesophagus. You can see how much of a good storyteller she is by looking at these. Also, she spoke so damn fast at some parts
• 【縦型配信】初の縦配信でいっぱい話します!【... source
If you like these zatsudan TLs I'll definitely feature more like her female-school stories, or ranting about the perfect chest size. This one was voted on by a poll, but she has had a lot of hilarious random stories she told, such as one about her chest and Noel. Please comment and let me know, I read every one.
Note: "heraru" means I guess to get disappointed, depressed, etc but might not have a 100% direct translation as it can also be a personality trait

So I work in an American hospital and I thought I'd share a bit of insight as to what happened here, since I see a lot of people assuming she got poor care - no, this was a pretty standard approach, and the system worked. Just hearing her talk about her symptoms I thought "This sounds gastric, probably a complication of heartburn/GERD" and that approach from the doctor was pretty much exactly what you'd expect for this, and the treatment for an Esophageal ulcer and GERD is actually THE SAME. Look at how she even reported that the 2nd medication worked and her symptoms were gone! So, Why didn't she get some sort of procedure to see how bad things were when she first went to the doctor? Well, all of that is expensive or has it's own dangers. Senchou was knocked out with Anesthesia for her gastric imaging. You don't want to have to knock someone out unless you absolutely have to, it has its own dangers and complications (She even had two bad sticks to give her the anesthetic! that sucks and is still just a minor side effect) So what do you do when someone presents with these symptoms? you give the patient a mild acid suppressor (such as famotidine) - we don't want to use the strong ones unless we have to. If it doesn't work, you increase to a stronger one (usually a proton pump inhibitor or PPI like omeprazole).... which I would bet money is exactly what happened here for Senchou, and why her symptoms resolved. She'll stay on the PPI for a while, and from now on will stay upright for thirty minutes after eating her medicine with a full glass of water, and never have this happen again. No one here was at fault - everyone did the right stuff. Except google symptoms. That's never the right call. Mikuri's joke there was spot on.

Healthcare in the US sucks ass. You have to jump through all these hoops just to be a able to get what you need. Not to mention all the insurance bs When I learned about family/primary care doctors, and the whole "You have to go to these guys first, get charged, then they'll point you to the specialized doctor" even for the most obvious of symptoms. Where I'm from, you can just go directly to the medical specialists without all the hassles. No booking? 90% of people just do walk-in + wait (albeit long af). No one should wait weeks just to be able to get an appointment, only to be given a few pain relieve tablets, then going through the whole thing again when it's not working

Sounded like ulcers. If the first solution doesn't work, it sounds odd that someone might feel hesitant to contact the hospital as soon as things got worse. Maybe prople don't know this, but they want to know when something isn't working to look closer at the problem.

doctors here in jp will do anything to not do checks on you. first doctor almost kicked me out and wouldnt check me coz they thought i just had flu or covid until the nurse suggested they had testing kits available. turns out i don't (which I was pretty sure I didn't have since I rarely go out of the house anyway and was working at home). so in the end they did the tests and I received treatment. another incident was this young doctor who literally just asked me one question and the "check up" was over.

It's everywhere man, not in specific countries. Like if some doctors see a similar case 10-20-30 times, they will end up treating them all the same ignoring that a lot medical issues share similar symptoms. Like a friend of mine had issue with his arm for nearly a year. Two doctors just half-assed a diagnosis based on where he felt pain and gave him medicine for tendonitis, but even after a year it never got better. In the end a physiotherapist noticed the problem was at his shoulder and not his triceps as the doctors claimed and not treating it properly for over a year made it worse.

It's everywhere like this. Even here in Germany it's VERY rare to find a good doctor. It's mostly the elderly ones, who still treat the symptoms differently and individually. I went to the hospital once in my life and never wish to go there again. I went there because of severe pain and in the end my diagnose was "you don't have any pain"??? I was sitting there almost crying, and the doctor only prescribed me some pain meds... Seems like that's the modern pharmacy nowadays.

it's partly cultural differences, individualism vs collectivism. in japan you are expected to accept what the doctor says, they're the professional, it could undermine the system if patients started questioning it (of course there's exceptions but that's the general vibe). traditionally people don't even necessarily have the ultimate say about what's good for them as an individual, like someone might be diagnosed with terminal cancer and doctor/family can decide not to even tell the person they are going to die in few weeks, better for the common good etc, and I bet if asked patients in that position might even agree that it'd be ok not to have been told if others felt that it'd be better not to.

Nah man, medication induced esophageal ulcers, as she described at the end, the medicine sitting in her throat broke down her esophagus - barrets is from untreated heartburn, which it doesn't sound like she's suffered.

Guess that's why when my mother takes her meds, she always downs a full cup of water with them and makes sure to let it sink all the way down to the stomach. Someone before her must have suffered something like this. And well, it makes sense: medicine _is_ in essence mild water-reactive chemicals. Also lazy medics are lazy.

Yeah, a lot of Japanese doctors seem to be unconcerned with actually helping their patients. If something is really hurting or concerning you, pursue second and third opinions.

Ultrasound wouldn't've been a good approach for this - it wouldn't have been able to visualize the ulcer. They probably treated just it like bad heartburn.

I... don't imagine ultrasound would be good for anything but foreign body detection (and if something was stuck there, the pain would be rather localized in the first place, and she'd likely have much more trouble eating from the onset of the symptoms) when it comes to esophagus, but I can't exactly claim to be a healthcare professional

I think they should start hiring doctors and nurses specially for Hololive. Under nda and can be called at any time 24/7. They can be regular practitioners but if they are needed they go. Not having them have to schedule appointments and wait weeks for procedures.

Disclaimer first I just wanna say sorry to all Houshou marine fans, but you see this how actually a carrier woman life, she had a busy day all of time, theres like no time to manage her self, even worse she eat an instant food rather the healthy one, I hope Marine will find someone who really love her and get married, please guys dont hurt your oshi because their close to some guys outside there, so please I just want to hololive members (the girls one) get the human life like all of you. Just imagine, if marines had married this kind of situation does not happen, she will get a really good treatment by her pair and can life more happy and healthy, for me its doesnt matter if my oshi (Pekora) get married I happy for her cheering for her because she had her own life and so am I, I just like a FICTIVE character (usada pekora) and thats enough for me. And I think virtual idol or actual idol deserve to being happy with their pair.
