Marine Corps Boot Camp IT - Incentive Training

Recruits quickly learn that the Marine Corps demands the maximum effort in everything they do…and in case they ever forget they receive attitude adjustments through IT…incentive training.
The Marine recruits of Echo Company go through some IT, or incentive training. Marine Corps Incentive training is one of the tools drill instructors use to instill discipline and motivation in recruits. While it may look chaotic, there are actually very strict rules governing incentive training. Recruit training IT is very closely supervised and consists of a combination of at least three of the allowed exercises, all of which are governed by strict time limitations. During the video you will notice the drill instructors checking their watches to make sure they aren’t going over the allowed time period of each exercise. It is important to understand that under no circumstances is a recruit to be pushed beyond his or her physical limitations.

This is the part of bootcamp that gets you in shape, it's not about the technique it's all cardio. It's a fun way for the DI'S to kill time in between classes and to wake us up from sitting through the classes

When I went to bootcamp, I was about 20 pounds overweight and had a visible gut. IT alone made me lose close to 50 pounds, and made me one of the fastest recruits in the whole company. My drill instructors were on a mission to f*ck me up, and I took it very seriously

I like how when you look up official US Army basic training videos, they show you the most sanitized and fun-looking version possible, with the obstacle courses, rifle range, and graduation ceremonies. Then you look up USMC basic training videos and it's full of recruits getting their asses handed to them in the sand pit and getting screamed at in their faces. They don't even try to make it look good whereas the Army tries to lure you in by showing you the only fun parts of basic training. We got smoked a lot in basic training, although it wasn't usually as long as incentive training, and it wasn't regulated at all, they would drop us whenever someone fucked up or couldn't meet the time standard in whatever uniform we had and wherever we were. We got smoked outside church because people were too slow getting out of the van.

Camera on for USMC boot camp = lots of stuff that usually goes on will not be shown. Cameras and Company Commander not around = the real shit goes down. My platoon actually had 2 killhats instead of the usual 1 because one of them punched some recruit in the balls and instead of removing him, they just moved him to our platoon. And he was actually easier on us than our initial killhat. I bet our DI's were happy cuz it meant they got more time off since they had more help, but it meant we got killed all the fucking time. Must have paid off cuz we made honor platoon.

The pit calls I took part in had us belly rolling in the sand, throwing at each other until it was so dusty you couldn’t see an inch in front of your nose. We were spitting dust for two days. These guys had it easy, nothing like boot camp in 69, also put 60 of us in a quanset hut with two buckets of bleach. I once forgot sir and did a shower inspection where the D.I. slapped the crap out of me. We started with 72 and 29 graduated I was 16.

+Jessica Vlogs Whether or not if its going to be hard isnt a question. Its designed to be hard, it will be hard, but if you go there for the right reasons you will be able to earn the title. Just remember there are thousands of men and women who are stronger, faster, slower, and weaker than yourself who have made it through. Keep a positive mindset and it will be over before you know it.

I have to ask, I was Army and in the Army during the smoking sessions we did it as a company. 1-2-3, 1, 1-2-3, 2 and if ANYONE messed up in any way we’d have new creative ways to get further smoked. The terror came from everyone knowing who messed up (bathroom fights at night), and someone always messed up form, time, lazy etc. so you knew you were gonna keep getting smoked. This … looks like everyone is doing their counting individually, how do they keep track? How do these smoking sessions go?

Hahaha… the rose garden. We would have never been allowed to get away with these pretend push ups back in the 70’s. Back must be straight and chest touch the ground. What happened to “bends and thrusts”? Our DI’s would get us hot and sweaty then have us “make it rain!” This consisted of grabbing handfuls of sand and throwing it straight up in the air… falling down onto our hair, in our eyes, and down our shirt collars… then march us off to the chow hall. Great fun!
