Marina's best songs are those she wrote by herself, I can just tell when someone else was involved, she has a very particular lyrical presence.

Reason why the album love+fear feels so non authentical to me. I've been following her since 2010, on l+f the influence of her (now ex) boyfriend's music style is REALLY hard to miss

@@ella.exe3 YES! I hope now that she's done with Jack that won't happen again. I know she says that Electra Heart was the album she had the least control over, but it feels and sounds like L+F actually is the one who deserves that spot.

Quite frankly, it is a bit weird you guys have this purity complex over someone else's work. I saw Love and Fear live as well, and I must say, the album was very easy to listen to. Lyrics are super straight forward and just very down to earth. Whereas Froot took me 3 listens to adjust to sound/melody, understand what she says and focus on the lyrical content. Obviously you're not going to like every type of production of an artist's entire discography. Let's just leave the pointless comparisons behind us.

Her art means so much to me, specially the Electra Heart album that came out when I was a teenager. I was mesmerized by the fashion choices and general aesthetic, production, videos, lyrics. It's so interesting to see how Marina has changed her style of giving interviews. Earlier (I'm talking pre-Froot), she appeared as if she had to prove that she was having fun - she kept on laughing and her responses were more 'pleasant' from society's point of view. I'm gaining more from the seldom interviews she's giving nowadays though. She's truly confident and has a lot to say. Love her. :)

It was such a treat to go home and look up her music videos, buy the albums on my own, and then celebrate and talk about them with her from then on. And here we all are later, five albums in and celebrating Marina in her newest endeavor.

I think Marina encodes messages in her music. I listened to the album while doing acid and whippits. During Pandora's box my room turned electric blue and eventually I zoomed into a vast dark space with a golden scale in the middle that I travelled upwards within. Riding that wave was a 2021 highlight. LDRs blue banisters came on after the album ended and everything went GREY.

I think she's still confused about who she is. At least she's making music and writing lyrics for her own personal self discovery or her interests. I just can't believe she said: "I had build this amazing community of that name (Marina and the diamonds)... And I was somehow weirdly locked into this smiley happy persona that couldn't show any other side of myself and .. that your public self and your personal self is so separate" Basically she says the name was part of that reason she wasn't feeling relaxed and authentic. That's funny because most of her early songs had so much angst and bitterness in the lyrics accompanied with self pity and restlessness. How can she call that not being her self or being locked into some 'happy persona'?

I really feel like, I am going through this right now.. This.. Realising of being someone else when alone and being "happy" with others. And it just, for me personally, feels like this "happy me" is not me! It's a part of me keeping me save.. By keeping me save.. It's keeping me away from everyone around me. All people see, is a part, that I used to rely on when I was in danger as a kid Or had to be a certain way so my family sees me. This is not me. This is a part of me keeping me save and away from people. It feels like it's not me. It feels like a different entity. When yeah.. In reality, it's me. It's me, and my way of coping.. But I won't.. Can't see it this way, yet! I hate this part of me keeping me away and locked in "being happy @ all times".. I wanna be with people WITH all of my emotions - not just happiness.

Please don't get me wrong. Marina is wonderful and I can see why she's done these different 'projects' at each time. But I feel like she wasted too much time with Jack and that's not authentic Marina to become confused. I think I understand why she deliberately just calls herself Marina now. I think what really happened to her was that she was uncertain about Jack in general hence the name "love and fear". Then she realized that she cannot live a standard kind of housewife life (with him anyway) and she needed to get away from London to disconnect herself from everything including her fans (which some had turned against her, hence the song "Venus Flytrap". She has made it very clear before that she doesn't want to settle down, because her new ambitions drive her. Anyway, Jack may have seemed the right prince on white armour and horse 🐎 at one point (when she needed a break). I think Marina quickly realised it wasnt right. Firstly Jack was cheating with Grace Chatto and secondly Jack was a basic, dull rich boy just like she prescribed in her song "seventeen". I think she thought she could escape herself in this bromance.. but she has also said "all I know is I cannot pretend, I ain't got the energy bro blend..so I'm sitting on the outside again.. on my own again" - inside the outsider

Marina has always said diamonds are her fans. To me by dropping that name was because her own fanbase turned against her after she met Jack 🎃. Then she decided I'm doing it alone and dropped 'diamonds' because they were no longer why she made her new album and moved to US. She said in the beginning that without my fans I'm nothing, but now she is no longer available for her fans who made her.

As much as I love her music, she does have a lyric that says blame America for all wars which I think is very extreme. How about America coming to the rescue of France and Britain in WWII? What about Japan dropping a bomb on Pearl Harbor and Hitler's cremation of hundreds of thousands of Jewish people? How about all the aid we give, even to countries that hate us? We give millions of dollars in aid to third world countries every year so for that comment, I'd like to say I think what she says is really misguided. I hope she can change her mind about America 'cause imho, America does far more to help the world than it does to hinder it. What about Russia and North Korea? It seems like America is the scapegoat for everything bad in the world. I really wish that kind of warped thinking would just come to an end.

I don't think Marina was trying to trash the U.S, she lives here. She was only bringing up things the U.S has done and what needs to be changed and pointed out and I think a country's citizens have the right to call things out when they're bad. It's just sad to see people claim the U.S is one of the best countries when there is better. Sure we have a lot of benefits but there's still so much that can be improved as we have seen the past year

@@becnimi Uh, did you hear her lyric where she says blame America for every single war? Look, the U.S. didn't create white supremacy 'cause there is no such thing as white supremacy! lol Look, I didn't grow up thinking America was racist 'cause nobody taught us that BS and it is BS! This is definitely a generational thing so since I'm not a millenial and I don't think the way you do, we can just agree to disagree. I like her music more than I dislike it. But as far as the United States being like Russia or China, you can rethink that mentality! No country gives you more freedoms than America. That's why we have people crawling across the border to get here! Remember America is called the Land of the Free & the Home of the Brave for a reason. We're not called the land of the communists and the land of people who'll cut your head off if you speak your mind. This is what America is and will always stand for.

And btw, America hardly colonized any countries! Look to England, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Portugal for that one! lol I don't what history book you're reading from but your facts are all wrong! Totally wrong! We are a nation founded on freedoms! Who do you think colonized Brazil? It definitely wasn't America! Who do you think colonized most of Africa! Definitely wasn't America! Who do you think colonized most of Asia! It wasn't America! As far as I no, no country asked for its independence back where we took over. Are you talking about like Guam? Puerto Rico? Hawaii? Your facts aren't facts! They're some misguided excuse at blaming America! lol We weren't a super power until the turn of the century. Get your facts straight! Woodrow Wilson didn't even want to get into World War I! Did you know that? We didn't even get involved until 1917. The United States of America hardly started every single war, so get your facts straight! WWII was going on way b4 Japan dropped a bomb on Pearl Harbor! Nowhere in that entire sentence did it say anything about America starting any wars with any country! Hitler invaded Poland, took over Paris and bombed England, France, etc., not to mention Nazi concentration camps! We never knowingly slaughtered our own population. It's a sad thing to know someone can have such a warped view of history. But you have no idea what you're talking about. Not even in the slightest. You are completely clueless as far as I'm concerned.
