Wish you could dedicate a little more time on "Oh No!". I find it one of the most brilliant songs ever, because its lyrics speak so many truths about being an insecure overachiever (feel like I'm the worst so I always act like I'm the best), look for protection in delusions (TV taught me how to feel, now real life has no appeal) and overall I feel it touches a really specific/peculiar type of personality of some humans.

I don’t know why, but watching these videos made me appreciate music more. I had some of these songs in my music library, but watching this video made me add the rest. I guess seeing someone dissect the songs makes me appreciate it more.

lol it's funny seeing people try to defend the song so much when Marina has even admitted that she's embarassed by the song now and thinks it was a result of internalised misogyny. I think it just aged poorly, the misguided "I'm not like other girls" thing was very prevalent in the 2000s

1: the fans are the diamonds (hence marinas stage name Marina and the Diamonds) 2: I feel like it's ironic that u classified Electa heart as finding herself considering she sang as a persona/ character. I normally see Electra Heart as trying to forget yourself and being someone else but like a guess those can go hand and hand but I've never heard that before

Their parents broke up when she was young & she missed her dad, that's what Guilty is about, actually she said that the whole album is about her dad and her older work is ALL about her family.

When I first discovered to Marina and the Diamonds, I never really gave “The Family Jewels” any time of day, but it’s now my favorite album of hers. “The Family Jewels” >> “Froot” >> “Electra Heart”.

@@purrr140 i think FROOT > The Family Jewels > LOVE + FEAR > Electra Heart It's not that Electra Heart was bad by any means, it's just that that was when the pressure was really on Marina to be as successful as possible and appease the critics, and it's also the least "her" album. She's recently said she doesn't feel a connection with EH anymore although she still feels connected with TFJ. I llke Love + Fear a lot, it's just that it's a super different sound from the Marina we're used to, and also I'm not used to the songs being shorter than usual (Has anyone else noticed?? All of her songs aside from To Be Human, ironically my favorite, are only 3 minutes long while FROOT all has songs that are 4 mins long aside from CPMD). TFJ was great because of how outrageous and unusual it was, it was her debut album and really put her on the map, and was a lot less manufactured than EH was FROOT is the album that for me is just an extremely enjoyable listen from start to end. My only problem is that INHA wasn't included

This is my favorite Marina album, and perhaps my favorite album ever. I remember listening to Seventeen on Spotify when I first got interested in Marina and I was hooked on the album from that point. My favorites now are Are You Satisfied, The Outsider, Numb, and Seventeen. But I love each song, and my favorites change from time to time.
