Best tip someone gave me for long rides is to pace yourself but take it as a lot of mini trips vs one big trip. So for the 65 mile ride, just see it as three 22 mile rides. You do that, you'll kill it for sure.

You might want to consider clipless pedals. Once you get over the anxiety of getting in and out quickly, you will never go back to platform. And I’d recommend different drops. One problem I find with my four corners are the drops are too deep and I can’t comfortably grab the levers. I got a Ritchey venturemax for another build and they are mint! Bike looks 👍

If I didn't use my bike for commuting, I'd definitely go clipless. Thanks for the recommendation on bars. I'm definitely not a fan of the drops, but that's an easy fix. Also, I went with a medium, and it still feels big. It's a bit unfortunate.

Agreed, I have a medium as well and the reach is a bit long. You might want to check out the dual platform/spd pedals (one side platform, flip and it’s a clipless). Enjoy the new ride!

Start training man!! Fuel is very important for those longer rides. Also get some comfortable chamois and cycling shorts your ass is gonna be sore after that many miles. Bike is sick!! I just picked up a cannondale topstone 3 for gravel/road riding. Super fun!! Enjoy man 1x drivetrain is good but on those looong rides ur gonna want more gears but on those everyday rides 1x set up is def way smarter!! Enjoy brother!! 🤙

I would have gotten this if they sold this alongside my current bike.... Hydraulic brakes make it better for stopping, and 1by is a nice touch although not necessity.

Hi I just wanted to ask if the bike has Thur axles? Looks pretty awesome and it checks pretty much every box I'm looking for. Just really want to make sure it has through axles thank you 🤙🏻

It does! Just make sure you get measured first. The top tube is very long, and the medium was way too big for me, and I unfortunately returned it for a loss. I was expecting a short top tube with upright positioning. It's very stretched out.

1000% ride with a chamois if you are going that far. Your ass will still hurt but you will be able to sit down and pedal at least. I like to force myself to drink water every 5 miles on 60+ mile rides, there is a point where you just don't want to drink anymore and then you are in trouble. Also shoes with a more solid sole, janos are great for shorter rides but something more like a five ten shoe will help with efficiency. Congrats on the bike dude!!!

What is the weight of the bike?

Hey man, nice to see a review for this bike! You mentioned your "in-between" height. I just test rode one and I can't figure out if it was slightly too big or not, so I was wondering how tall you are as I'm considering trying to find a medium to try. Thanks a lot!

I actually had to return the bike at a loss. My LBS sold me the medium and it was too big for me I'm 5'11" but I have a short inseam. The stock stem was already really short so there was nothing I could do to make it fit unfortunately.

@@KevinNiceTry Aw man I'm sorry to hear it that sucks. I am also 5'11 and they threw me on a large to test-ride, and it felt comfortable, but I couldn't shake the feeling it was too big. It's weird because Marin's site puts 5'10 to 6'0 squarely on the large. You'll have to let us know what you pick up next!

Another challenge is going up hills, long climbs etc. My guess is you have ridden Mosty flat areas?

Marin makes great bikes. I have had my Larkspur for 16 years and it rides beautiful. I want to ask about the Four Corners 2, how is it climbing steep hills? How much does it weigh/does it ride light? I live in NYS in a mountainous region of Ramapo Mountains, thus a lot of climbing on rough winter roads, trying to decide Four Corners 2 and Gestalt X10?

I unfortunately only rode it about a month. The shop sold me a size too big and I couldn't get comfortable on it. That being said, it was a fantastic bike. The gearing was great for hills a bit on the heavier side, but I dont know the exact weight.

@@KevinNiceTry Thanks, I hope they straightened out the size for you. For comfort, try an adjustable stem. My Larkspur came with a Marin adjustable stem, and I love it, the flex absorbs shock as well. Ritchie makes an adjustable stem, give them a call to see if it will work with drop bars.

@edwardcromarty891 they bought it back, and I took a solid loss, but it was better than being stuck with an oversized ride. Needless to say, they lost a customer for life. The marin comes stock with a really short stem, so I couldn't go any shorter that was the major issue.

  • @edwardcromarty891

@@KevinNiceTry The bike shop should have done a basic bike fit and test ride for you beforehand. The short stem is likely intended to sit you up for comfort and safety in touring. That type of fitting is always situational with each person. I personalized mine over 16 years. The reasonable cost and quality makes it possible to personalize over time. Have you thought of building your bike from a frame?

The concept of a 'bad neighbourhood'.. sounds almost incomprehensible to me, living in the Netherlands. Not that one neighbourhood isn't nicer than another. But I would feel comfortable stopping to fix a flat tire anywhere. On topic: Nice bike for everyday riding or nice touring.
