Marilyn was way ahead of her time. I remember reading how she stuck up for Ella Fitzgerald. She told the club owner that if Ella could enter & leave the venue like everyone else, she would come to the club every single night in support of Ella even having Ella sit right up front with her. It was said that Ella never wanted for anything after this beautiful gesture on Marilyn's part. May she rest in peace ⚘

I listened to an interview with Alan Young, who dated her a few times. She really had a rough childhood. She was moved around from foster home to foster home, due to the fact that the men of the household wanted to have sex with her. She was finally adopted by an elderly woman that was able to, finally, give her a stable life.
