Arthur Miller used Ms. Monroe. What a creep he was. He wrote "After the Fall." He promised her that he would not write about her. What a "misfit" he was.

great interview.....past is an image of ourselves that never goes away.....and i think marilyn struggled her whole life with it....no matter how much fame or money or whatever other things she achieved....she was always trying to look for all the things she was missed in a way....

I think Monroe had a difficult time turning it off, meaning: when she was noticed for being MM it was hard not to continue being MM. If you're empty and craving attention, affection, whatever it is you need then how do you stop doing or behaving in the manner which gives you the very thing you want? She would have been noticed if she walked into a room wearing a paper sack and her hair a mess, that's how stunning she was! Yet, people still would have wanted MM as MM: the half-closed eyes, toothy smile, whisper of a voice and all the other things that went into the persona of MM! Comedians have the same issue: everyone expects them to be funny all the time! I think (if she were alive today) she would have been disheartened to see all the adoration she receives because, really, nobody would want to hear or see an aging Marilyn Monroe...not in this youth-saturated culture. And what else did she have to offer?
