Today (June 2023) we are in Somianka, Mazovian Voivodeship. As part of the #CalledByName program, we are commemorating Mieczysław Żemojtel, who was murdered for helping Jewish siblings Anna and Marian Kowalski. We are also commemorating Anna Kowalska, whose unwavering conduct saved the lives of three Polish women who provided help - one of them was Marianna Stępkowska. Her daughter, Marianna Wacława Wojtkun, recalls the tragic events of 1942.
