This tone, to me, was the best of any era! It was so rich, creamy, smooth and warm! She was still bright and light with the belts but sounded so full and resonant. Her transitions were so connected and seamless. The whispers were silky, the whistles were ethereal. The low notes were great, the mid belts were strong!

This live band accompanying her is outstanding. I truly think this is the most *professional* live performance she's done in the 21st century. No theatrics, no pre-recorded tracks, no dubbing....she's just singing, and it's coming from the heart.

Whoever did Mariah's makeup needs to get hired again. During this era she looked absolutely STUNNING! To me, this era's makeup and look as well as the looks in I Still Believe are when she looks the best. She looks natural and happy and she looked comfortable.

Glitter era

Never Too Far was indeed one of her best ballads ever written. Since it was in the Glitter soundtrack which has been dubbed as her worst work ever, Never Too Far became underrated. I feel if the critics, the recording company and her management at that time pushed Never Too Far a bit harder, I guess it can be well received like her other ballads. Just my honest opinion as her fan. But, what the heck. Never Too Far is one of my favourite ballads by Miss Mariah Carey.

Soembody commented a while ago that this may be her best live performance ever. And I might be inclined to agree. The resonance in her voice during this period was spec-tac-u-lar. Truly. Her whisper voice could fill a room, filled that room definitely. Her whistle register was clean and bright. The performance is completely live and emotionally-connected. Just a phenomenal performance, appearance, everything. Oh yeah, and she looked stunning.

live part starts 1:37, in fact she starts a little bit early and so her voice sounds double because of her singing over the playback..... But that live whistle at the end sent me to heaven so I don't really care about the lipping lol

Probably one of the best performances of her career. She tunes into the emotion of the song so well, her ability to control the texture of her tone is impeccable. Her musicianship is out of this world here, a masterclass just like her “You and I” Stevie Wonder tribute.
